LSVT Global will be offering FREE educational seminars for people with Parkinson's Disease.  You won't want to miss these seminars on LSVT LOUD (Jan. 26) and LSVT BIG (Jan. 28).  Below, you will find flyers with more information and details on how to register for these seminars.  

Training and certification courses for LSVT BIG (PT professionals and students ~ PT/PTA, OT/COTA) and LSVT LOUD (speech therapy professionals and students ~ SLP/SLPA's) in an evidence-based, intensive, and highly effective treatment program for individuals with Parkinson disease and other conditions.  These courses offer 1.2 CEU's.  Below you can find out more details on these events coming to Oahu and how to register

  • Oahu ~ Honolulu Area Support Group ~ First Thursday of each month, 1:30-3PM.

Next meeting will be Thursday, February 1.  The group is meeting at Central Union Church (1660 South Beretania, Women's Building).

 

  • Oahu ~ Hawaii Kai Support Group ~ Second Saturday of month, February 10 10-11:30 AM, Hawaii Kai Retirement Community 428 Kawaihae St., Hawaii Kai, HI 96825. Yoga with Lindsay Sutton

 

  • Oahu ~ Hawaii Kai Caregiver Support Group  Second Saturday of month, February 10, 10:30-11:30AM, Hawaii Kai Retirement Community 428 Kawaihae St., Hawaii Kai, HI 96825. Yoga with Lindsay Sutton

 

  • Oahu ~ Windward Support Group ~ Fourth Tuesday of month, 3-4:30 PM. Castle Hospital Wellness Center, Kailua. Next meeting will be January 23.  Guest Speaker-Kevin Lockette, Medtronic representative and past HPA president will present a program on Deep Brain Stimulation. 

 

  • Oahu ~ North Shore Support Group ~ First Saturday of month, 10AM at United Church of Christ in Waialua (right next to the high school).  Next meeting February 3.

 

  • Oahu ~ Young Onset/Movers and Shakers ~ First Saturday of month, 10-11:30 AM Regency Park Condos Recreation Center (access via Chaminade University campus).  Next meeting February 3. 

 

  • Big Island, Waimea Support Group ~ Second Wednesday of the month, from 1-2:30 PM at Tutu’s House in Waimea.  Next meeting will be February 14.  January 29 Weekly PD exercise is back!!! (new day Mondays) from 1:30-2:30 PM with Madeline at Allstar Crossfit Gym next to Tutu's House, $5 or more per class. 

 

  • Big Island, Hilo Support Group ~ Last Friday of every month, 2-4 PM.  Meets at Office of Aging, Hilo: 1055 Kinoole St #101.  Next meeting will be January 26. Special guest speaker will be Pat Bemis, HPA Board member and care partner support specialist.  Strongly encourage care partners from all over the island to attend this special meeting. 

 

  • Kauai Support Group ~ Last Tuesday of month, 5-6:30 PM.  At Regency Puakea (2130 Kaneka Street, Lihue) in the activity room from 5:00 - 6:30 pm.  Next meeting is Jan 30th, 

 

  • Kauai North Support Group ~ *NEW* Second Tuesday of the month. At The Church of the Pacific. The meetings will be February 13.  January's meeting is cancelled. This meeting is still in search of a support group leader.

 

  • Maui Support Group ~ This group is on hold until futher notice.

 

Other Local PD items of interest~

Kona Hawaii Dance for PD~Just a quick reminder that there will be 1 more Jan class on Tuesday Jan 23 at 1:15  at the Kona Dance and Performing Arts 81-973 Halekii St. in Kealakekua. Classes are $10. Drop Ins are encouraged and welcome. No dance experience necessary, all levels and can start anytime in the series!! Caregivers/Family/Friends are welcome to join in the fun!
