In general, what is your athletic background? I played soccer my Junior and Senior year of high school. Other than that I was never very athletic. I ran a lot before I started CrossFit and would work out at home.

 

How did you learn about CrossFit Kalamazoo? I learned about CFK through Julie Locker. I saw all her pictures on Facebook and had been curious about CF, of course she talked me into trying it (there is a reason she’s in sales) but I am so glad she did.

 

How has CrossFit Kalamazoo changed your life, lifestyle, and level of fitness?CrossFit has changed my life in so many ways. At 46 I am in the best shape I have ever been in my life, I love the feeling of being strong and not worrying about being skinny. I have learned to push myself harder than ever (most of that credit goes to some pushy morning people who don’t let me quit). I am pretty much 100% addicted to CrossFit.

 

List short/long term goals you would like to accomplish through CrossFit Kalamazoo: 

Short term:I want to work on stringing together more kipping pull ups.

 

Long term: I would love to achieve a muscle up and a hand stand walk.

 

What do you like most about CrossFit Kalamazoo?  The thing I like most about CFK is the love and support of the community. It is always worth dragging my ass out of bed to work out with such amazing, supportive, competitive, complaining, smart ass people. Always starts my day out right!!

 

 

What is your favorite CrossFit movement? My favorite CrossFit movement is probably bench. But I love doing hand stand holds too.

 

What is your least favorite CrossFit movement? My least favorite is thrusters.

 

What are you currently doing to try to improve your diet? I try to eat healthy as much as possible. I’ve done a round of Whole 30. I’ve found counting Macros works the best for me.

 

Favorite movie:

My favorite movie is the Hangover. I just love Alan.

 

Favorite and/or current book:

My favorite book was probably the Twilight series, but I also like Steven King.

 

Favorite music genre/artist: I like all types of music, some of my favorite bands are Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin and Tool. Back in the day I was a huge Bon Jovi fan.

 

Achievements you’d like to highlight within your life: My greatest achievement is raising my two beautiful sons. They mean everything to me and I am so proud of both of them.
 

List a few things we don’t know about you: So I was never a great athlete, but I did take 14 years of piano lessons, and even taught piano for a while. I haven’t played in so many years I don’t know if I could even read music anymore.

 

In 10 words or less, what does CF mean to you? My time to improve me!

January CFK Anniverary!

WE ARE JUST ORDINARY PEOPLE DOING EXTRAORDINARY THINGS!

On-Ramp Classes

Our On-Ramp class provides coaching in a smaller group setting and is mandatory for those who are new to CrossFit. This class is programmed to teach you the movements, techniques and lingo as we want to ensure you have a good foundation built before you jump into our regular WOD!  

 

This is on our schedule Monday through Thursday at 8:00 p.m (core time). Please call if this time doesn't work for you as other times may be available at 5pm, 6pm or 7pm (depending on Coach availability).

 

The duration is 1 hour and up to 5 classes are scheduled over a 2 week period (plus 2 optional Saturday WODS).

Try A Class - Offered Every Saturday! 

Ready to check CFK out? You can  "Try A Class"  every Saturday at 10am and join us in our Partner WOD!   

 

When you join us for the first time, you will be partnered with a CFK Athlete and you will be encouraged to do it at your pace.  This is a great opportunity to try out a workout at our facility, visit with our CFK community and be a part of the Community that makes CrossFit Kalamazoo so great!  

 

The cost to join this class is $10 (limited to newbies to CrossFit and does not apply to experienced CrossFitters dropping in).  If you sign up for our On-Ramp class, the $10 intro fee will be applied to the cost of the On-Ramp class. 

 

Reservations are required so please call 269-251-1677 or send an email to crossfitkalamzoo@aol.com to reserve a spot.  Since class starts on the hour, please arrive 15 minutes early to check in, complete a waiver and stretch.
