Menzies Family Newsletter No.6

Check out what we've been up to

The family gravestone has now been fenced by the council and we need to act to save it. We've also found the death certificate of Jeanetta's Menzies father, the soldier Charles Smith.

Family Grave in Danger

Those who attended the reunion in March this year will recall a visit to the grave where Jeanetta and George and several of their children are buried. The gravestone was in danger of falling over due to subidence. The council has now fenced the site and may soon be required to push the stone over if we, the descendants, don't act to stabilise the site.

Charles Smith story getting clearer

Geoff Brew (g-grandson of Jeanetta & George) has been actively researching the generation before Jeanetta and George. He has now tracked down the death certificate: Charles died of a kidney disease (from too much salt beef?) in the Union Inn, in Stafford, England, aged 43.
