A Collaboration Brew

We're excited to share our first collaboration brew with Gaucho Brazilian Grille in Blacksburg!  Owner and Chef, Kiko, reached out earlier this year with an idea to craft a custom beer featuring Yerba Mate.  Now a thirsty Gaucho won't have to choose between his mate and nice cold lager to fill his gourd!  You can find this Rising Silo beer in our taproom and on draft at Gaucho's Brazilian Grille beginning this weekend.  Cheers to a fusion of North American farm beer and South America's favorite herb - Saúde!

The legendary Yerba Mate is made from a holly tree native to the South American rainforest.  The plant's leaves and twigs are fire-dried to comprise the tea.  Referred to as the Gaucho's "liquid vegetable" and "drink of the gods" for it's rejuvenating and invigorating nourishment.  The "drink of friendship" is traditionally shared by the filling and passing of the mate gourd and through the gathering of friends.  We hope to foster a similar spirit of community and good will over this new hybrid brew!

Tabula Rasa on Glade, the farm kitchen, is grilling again this weekend!  On-site pastured and organic-fed chickens dressed in a farm tomato sauce, grilled summer veggies and Brazilian-inspired black beans!
