When we get hit with something emotional, we don't want to think. We want to REACT. We don't want to relax. We want to tense up. It's as if our brains scream at us that "ACTION NEEDS TO BE TAKEN!"

When you're having an emotional reaction you find unpleasant – track it down. Become a "thought detective." Emotions don't exist in a vacuum. They're often ignited by and fed by thoughts. Get curious about what those thoughts are.

Thursday, November 9th (PM)

You can do something, even when your head is screeching at you to do something else . . . That's the thing: our heads soften screech at us to take one path, which is easier, less hassle, more immediately gratifying. Our heads can even sometimes throw up obstacles to being productive: they'll focus on distractions, they'll flood us with neurotransmitters that don't feel great, they'll make us sleepy or irritable. BUT...only we can DECIDE whether we're going to cave to all that, or not. It's not easy.
