Thank you for visiting the shop and for bringing along your friends! |

So many of you helped us pack, move, and unpack; paint, lay flooring, clean, and clean again; sort, stack, and straighten. We cannot adequately thank all of you who helped us with the great relocation of SewGreen@Rochester effort, and as much as we'd like to do so, listing names means we will most certainly leave someone out. You all know who you are, and we are so grateful for each one of you! There are still some loose ends: boxes to unpack, furniture to move, and donated fabric and yarn to sort through. And yes, there is still (and will be!) plenty to do if you'd like to continue to help us out. Interested? Call 585-328-2642 or email volunteer@sewgreenrochester.org. |

Thank you, Brenda Tremblay, for the photo above, and for the photo of our door at the top of this week's e-newsletter. Many thanks to all who came to celebrate our grand re-opening on the 12th. Our shop was filled from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., with friends and family, with a pretty good band playing their first gig, with Tom Bohrer and his awesome Punch and Judy puppet show, and with lots of shoppers and well-wishers. We had such fun sharing our new space with each of you! And as we heard one of you say (it's all a blur, so forgive our mis-remembering exactly who): It IS your shop, too! You made it so with all of your work helping us move, set up, feed others and celebrate! Thank you!!

Georgia and other volunteers will be there, sewing on antique treadle machines. If you'd like to help demonstrate old school sewing skills for a few hours, we would love to have you join us. Rochester Knitting Guild SewGreen@Rochester will be at the Rochester Knitting Guild's Shop Night this coming Monday, November 21st, at Temple B'rith Kodesh on Elmwood Avenue. Shopping begins at 6:30 p.m. We will have some select, one-of-a-kind, reclaimed items available for purchase at reasonable rates. All of our proceeds support the work we do: rescuing for reuse unwanted fabrics and yarns, teaching sewing and other needlework skills, community-building, and providing creative materials at low prices. We are looking forward to spending the evening with greater Rochester's knitting community! (RKG membership is encouraged to attend this event, but not required.) |

Remember... Every Saturday is Scrappy Saturday! Our small scrappy bags stuffed with scraps and rolls of fabric and/or unmarked balls of yarn are only $1 all day (regularly $3 on weekdays). Grocery-sized totes stuffed full are only $5 (regularly $10). Stop by and fill a bag this Saturday, and every Saturday. We won't stop you! There will always more to be had. |

Don't see Measure Up!/Fit It on our calendar? We still offer it! If you wish your clothing fit you better than it does, or if you want to stop sewing and/or knitting garments that you either swim in or can't quite close at the front, the first step is to obtain accurate measurements of your body. If you'd like your own body map, call 585-328-2642 or email info@sewgreenrochester.org, and make an appointment with Georgia today! |

We need your input... The coffee shop across the street from our shop, 1872 Café, provided coffee for us all day to help us celebrate our grand reopening on the 12th. We'd like to return the favor. They have a comfortable spot in the center of the shop they'd like to share with knitters and crocheters. If you'd like to take part in a knit/crochet circle that meets there regularly, we are planning to help set one up! Please let us know what days/times work best for you and we will do our best to accommodate you. |
|
Several of our customers - shoppers and students - have expressed interest in learning how to make reuseable diapers, diaper covers (for both babies and adults) and menstrual pads. If this captures your interest, we would very much like to help a group form around those efforts. Contact us at the shop at 585-328-2642 or info@sewgreenrochester.org. Even if you've already mentioned this to us, please remind us of your interest. Thank you! |
