OUR REGATTA

OUR BIG EVENT

YOUR HELP

Yes that’s right, next weekend we will be hosting the H&D crews on our own turf for an exciting day of head to head races. This is our biggest event of the year and a lot of time and effort has gone into organising the day, we now ask for your help to make sure we pull it off in style. Below are all the ways you can get involved and help out. We expect all crews racing to be down Friday evening and Saturday morning to help set things up, and to help at the end of the day with packing everything away again. The past couple of years have had a great team effort with you all together to help get all that is needed done quickly rather than leaving it to a few willing volunteers, so let’s have that same team spirit this year :) The BBQ will be Friday night this week (Not Thursday), so come down and join us even if you are not rowing, the more the merrier, we'll put any willing hands to work ;)

This day is one of our biggest fundraisers for the club and a large part of that is made up by being able to sell cakes which are lovingly made and donated by you. Last year, we had a lot of cakes, but still ran out 1/2 way through the day!!! If you've ever been to a regatta you must know that second to the racing, it is all about the cake selection So please, please, please get your bake on. You can bring any baked goods down to the club Friday evening or Saturday morning and leave them with me, I promise not to eat them :)

Volunteers Needed For on The Day

As you can imagine this is a very busy and long day. But we need to make sure we have enough people in place to make it safe and successful. Therefore there are 3 main areas we look for people to sign up for to help out with on the day...

We need people who are able to help out in the safety boats which stop other river traffic whilst races are on. We have drivers for 2 boats, but would love a 3rd (if you have a boat, even better, or we have a tin launch that can be used). We then need volunteers to help in each of these boats. Please sign up for a time slot.

This is a job open to anyone, but is usually filled by our lovely junior scullers. As this is a sweep oar event, you will not be racing, however this is a great opportunity to get right up close to the racing action and see what it is all about. As the races are head to head, we have 2 stake boats moored at the start line that hold the racing boats in position until the umpire says 'Go'. You get a front row seat to the action. We ask you to sign up in pairs for each boat and each time slot.

Food Stalls & BBQ

This is a very important part of the day, CRC has a brilliant reputation as hosts. We have a food stall (selling your wonderful cakes amongst other things), a kit stall, tombola, Pimm’s stall, a BBQ and even a candy floss station this year. Please sign up for a time slot for either the BBQ or Stalls (any of the other stalls). We ask for 2 people on each station for each session.

This year we have some great prizes from our town supporting us, The Kings Hotel, Harbour Beauty, Foot Rescue, Mathews Shoe Shop, Willow Fashion Jewellery, Alex & Us, The Regent Centre... But we would love some more, if you have any prizes you would like to donate, or companies you know who might like to support us, that would be fabulous.

Friday Night Job Rota

Saturday Morning - all rowers / or anyone else able to help, please be at the club for 8am to finish off all the last minute jobs.

Saturday Evening Job Rota

So many jobs! You can see how important your help is. We must not of course, forget that our rowers like to have a very loud cheering squad, so why not reward yourselves in-between helping, by feasting at our BBQ, or on the lovely cakes, have a go at winning a fabulous prize from our tombola, maybe the Pimm's stand and cheer on our rowers whilst soaking up the sunshine. Its forecast Sunny :)
