2016 March Newsletter TSA and McKamy Competitions Written by: Mahek Kakkar, MRC Reporter McKamy February Competition The McKamy Robotics competition hosting 24 middle school teams from DFW, Houston and Austin was made successful due to the help of the McKamy Robotics volunteers, members, advisors and MRBC Board. At the McKamy competition all McKamy teams did a wonderful job, in which three teams Dunkin’ Robots, TEX VEX and Tera-Bots made it to the finals. The Tera-Bots were on the Tournament Championship Alliance and Vectors received the Design Award. This was the first VEX competition hosted at McKamy and this event will be remembered for a very long time. |

VEX North Texas Regional Competition On February 27th McKamy had 7 teams invited to the North Texas VEX Middle School Regional Championships in Greenville, TX. We are so proud of Vectors, Sa-Bot-age, Engineerds, Dunkin’ Robots, Tera-Bots, TEX VEX and RetroRobots. Congratulations to Vectors for receiving the CREATE award and RetroRobots for receiving the Design Award! |

Technology Student Association (TSA) Competition Recently McKamy teams participated in a TSA Region 11 VEX Skills Challenge competition hosted at FMHS. A big congrats to the two McKamy teams Vectors and Robot Destroyers that advance to TSA State in Waco next month! We also had 34 students submit 55 Individual STEM entries and all 55 entries are advancing to State! The TSA was a great learning experience where the advancing McKamy teams learned new ways to change their robot and make it better. Each McKamy team and the individual students did an amazing job! |

Finish Line Sadly, Robotics competitions have come to an end for some teams. Congratulations to all the McKamy teams that advanced to TSA state and to Dunkin’ Robots and Tera-Bots that will be competing next month at VEX nationals! Every team did an amazing job this year in all the Vex Robotics competitions! McKamy received many awards due to the success of many teams. A big thanks to all the members of the robotics club, Mr. Blalack, our McKamy Sponsor, and the McKamy Robotics Booster Club!
