Blood Memory Project Update

Friends, I can't say it enough.  THANK YOU!

The people, storylines, footage and future of Blood Memory are the central focus of our everyday lives and we're honored to have your support in this unfolding adventure.

In case you missed it...

The Blood Memory crew traveled to Long Island, New York in late January to interview Bert Hirsch, former litigator and lead author of the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA). He shared insights and personal opinions regarding the role and effectiveness of ICWA in a long and ongoing history of removal.

Since then, we've focused on preparations for the National Indian Child Welfare Association's 34th Annual Protecting Our Children National American Indian Conference on Child Abuse and Neglect April 3-6, 2016 in Saint Paul, Minnesota.  This is the second consecutive year in which we'll host an exhibition at the NICWA conference to share and discuss Blood Memory with attendees.

Check out the 2015 re-cap video that we recently produced for NICWA:

If you're planning to attend the 2016 NICWA conference in Saint Paul and/or you'll be in the Twin Cities during the first week of April, please let us know!  We'd love to connect with you.

Plus, we've got BIG news.

The first-ever in-progress screening of Blood Memory will take place on Monday, April 4th 2016 at Creative Arts Secondary School of Saint Paul!

The screening is being presented with support from the Indian Education Program of Saint Paul Public Schools and the First Nations Repatriation Institute.  Our friend, local chef Yazzie the Cook will also be there with his team to serve buffalo soup!

Audience members will be encouraged to provide commentary on the work-in-progress film and to participate in a Q&A session with us immediately following the screening.

Walk-ins are welcome, but if you'd like to RSVP for this exciting community event, visit tinyurl.com/BloodMemoryinSP.

You can also view, download and share the official event flyer by clicking here.

In the meantime, if you know anyone who might like to attend the upcoming screening, receive Blood Memory Project Updates or get involved with this project in some other way, please forward this message!

Cheers!
