2016 - The 39th Race

Result and Rule Updates, Entry Price Changes and More

Welcome to newsletter #5.

Happy New Year from the Three Peaks Yacht Race!  Our 39th race is coming up and we hope to see you on the start line!

Where Do Your Results Rank on the All Time Lists?

After another successful prize giving dinner in November the full results and prize winners of last years race were all updated on the website.

This included adding the finishers into the historic records where those who took part can see their overall times for both sailing and running compared to all those who have taken part since the first race.

Early Bird Entry Ends March 1st

Entry for this years race costs £800 until March 1st, then it goes up to £900 ... so be sure to get your entry to us in good time!

If you are looking for a yacht we've added a charter page to the website and you can look for team mates on the noticeboard which regularly has crew and runners looking for teams. (If you post please don't forget to include your email for replies.)

All the entry details and the revised rules for this year are here.

New Rules and the Return of Multihulls

The Race Committee have finalised the rules for this year and they include some important changes.

This year, for the first time ever, the overall winners will be determined on handicap times, although the first over the line will still win the  prestigious Daily Telegraph Cup.

The Barmouth Publicity Cup will be given to the overall winner on handicap and there is a new trophy in the cabinet. This is the Tlws Meic a Gwenda Ellis Trophy for the fastest IRC Handicap time on the sea legs of the race.

We may also see multihulls returning to the race as the 2016 rules allow for their return provided 3 entries are received, although they will compete for different trophies to the main race.

Already Entered

Some entries have already been received, including one from the Go Ape company, and there are plans afoot for one of Britian's best known sailors to take part ... but we'll tell you more about that once its all confirmed ;-)

That's all for now.

See you in Barmouth!
