Plugged Unplugged

Week 20 & 21

Check out what we've been up to these past few weeks.

Students are wrapping up filming/photographing and editing their workouts and will share them with you at their SLC/POL (see details below)

Our learning objectives for the week:

  • evaluate fitness preferences and make choices for a personalized workout routine
  • manage a list of suggested tasks, choosing tasks that make the most sense for the day and time allotted for that day worktime
  • look to the project calendar and evaluate how much remaining time is available to complete the project and decide on tasks in order to meet project deadline

Important Note Regarding SLC/POL

Parents and families, please plan to come and spend about 5 minutes with your child at their Plugged Unplugged SLC/POL where they will share with you the workout they have designed.

You are welcome to visit either before or after your scheduled appointment time that you have arranged with your child's team teachers.

Have you noticed that your child has a particularly low grade?

If you have noticed that your child has a much lower grade than you were expecting it is because they have not yet completed their Photoshop Collage Rubric (each student has been asked to evaluate/score themselves on their photoshop collage project, once they complete this themselves I will get the chance to add my score to this sheet). This notice has been given daily to students for more than 2 weeks.

Our schedule and routines were adjusted this week to account for CAASPP testing.

One hope I have for this project is that students will be able to take responsibility for their time and performance without being overly managed by a teacher.  I have worked to offer scaffolds and supports that help them along the way without taking away their autonomy; one of the structures implemented this week was the Project Check-In, in which I conferenced with each student/group.  We discussed their progress up till that point, what they still needed to work on (next steps), as well as what might be getting in their way of making good progress.

Student's have also taken time to prepare for the SLC/POL by completing the worksheet above.  We reviewed the features of a traditional tabata workout, and some of the research done by Japanese researcher Dr. Izumi Tabata. They reflected on their fitness personality when considering what exercises to include in the workout they are designing.

On Friday students exported final copies of their workout videos and/or printables and turned them in to Google Classroom.
