NEWS FROM VISIONEERS

October 2017

Dear friends, members and VISIONEERS supporters,

in this newsletter, we bring you along to our VISIONEERS sewing workshop, surfing in Costa Rica and joining our excitement for our upcoming events in Berlin and our volunteer trip for a school construction project to Limón 2000.

Review.

Winter can come! – Sewing for the cold season.

Our weekly sewing workshop combines the pleasant with the useful – as it’s suitable for the cold season, the participants are currently having a try in sewing cozy cardigans and fluffy pillows. If you also want to be creative or have useful sewing tips, you are welcome to stop by our workshop. We meet from 3 to 5 p.m. every Wednesday at our location in Belziger Straße 71, 10823 Berlin-Schöneberg. The colorful hustle of the past few weeks has been put together in a short film (see video). In this context, we would also like to give a big thank you to the State Office for Development Cooperation, Postcode Lottery and Buddy Bear e. V., that make our weekly sewing workshop possible.

Already in Schöneberg.

Our association space in Berlin Schöneberg has already fallen into place. For the finishing touches, we have the help of many busy hands at building the furniture, decorating or sorting. In October, we were pleased to have welcomed a group of volunteers from the United States, which did not only help sorting materials for our sewing workshop, but also cooked tasty food for us and gave English classes. Many thanks to all helpers that constantly support us!

Costa Rica.

Nothing is impossible!

Surfing with blind and deaf-mute people? This sounded like a major challenge to our weltwärts volunteers Laura and Francie in Costa Rica. A few weeks ago, they were standing on the surfboard for the first time and have come to know how hard surfing is with all human senses on hand. Their fascinating experiences are covered on our blog.

This exceptional surfing event was also shown on Costa Rican television:

Voluntary Trip to Costa Rica – Free Places Left!

Do you want to be socially engaged? Do you not shy away from rubble? Are you interested in the Costa Rican culture? Then sign up for our next volunteer trip from 1.12.–10.12.2017 for our school construction project in Limón 2000, Costa Rica.

Detailed Information

If you are still hesitant, look at the great impressions and progress of our last volunteer trip (see video) or let our two volunteers Christina and Julius take you on a week full of rubble, amiable ticos and a whole lot of Pura Vida (Christina's Experience Report, Julius's Experience Report).
