One of my all-time favorite praise and worship songs is “Pure & Holy Passion”...

I had never heard it before college but anytime I’m in my own head, just simply overwhelmed by everything going on in life or the world, it’s usually my go to.

Please allow me to share the lyrics with you...

Give me one pure and holy passion. Give me one magnificent obsession. Give me one glorious ambition for my life- to know and follow hard after You.

To know and follow hard after you. To be Your disciple in Your truth.

This world is empty, pale and poor compared to knowing you my Lord.

Lead me on and I will run after You. Lead me on and I will run after you.

When I break that down in my head today I am really overwhelmed by how much I DO NOT follow through with the words of this song, that I love so much. In the song I ask to “know and follow hard after You”.

I cannot tell you how many times in my day I know and follow hard after ME. I have spent so much of my life thinking I am the only person I can rely on. No one can do things better than me. Well I couldn’t be any more wrong. When I look back over my life I realize quite clearly just how “good” I was (am) at doing things.

I also realize (now more than ever) just how invested God is in my life. Simple, minute details I’m talking about like making sure that my husband, Jeremy, wore blue jeans (those who know get how monumental this is) instead of shorts on the scariest night of our lives. I love to brag on God with that story but if I’m honest I have not lived daily in the passion that I put into telling that story since it happened on 9/5/14. However today is a new day.

Every morning that we are graced with breath is a new day which allows us the opportunity to be His disciple. The song describes life on this world perfectly… it IS empty, pale and poor when compared to knowing him. It is my prayer to be a better daily disciple for Jesus but even more to be a better companion in my and His relationship.

Lead me on and I will run after You. Lead me on and I will run after You.

Side note: I’m not the best singer but if anyone ever wants to know how it goes…. I’ll teach Debbie and she can belt it out for you!

REMEMBER:  The Valentine's Banquet is this Saturday at church!  And it is NOT for couples only.  It's good fun for singles and duos.

Jackie and Christy are joining thier tables end to end so we'll have one long Java gal table.  There's still a few spots on it.

Come on Java Gals!  Let's represent!

Please be praying about...

Continue praying for Sheila Holmes. She had 18 inches of her colon and a part of her bladder taken our last Thursday.  She's doing well and hoping to come home today.

We still need volunteers for prayer and outreach.  Sign up sheets are on the Java and Jesus shelf in the hallway behind the pulpit or just let Ashley know.

Our next Java and Jesus meeting! Here's where we are so far...

Kim Hindman will be bringing her testimony about how the power of Love... and more importantly, the power of God saved her marriage.

ALSO, February is Bring a Friend meeting.  Visitors are always welcome at our meetings, but this next meeting we're hoping that every member attending will bring a friend with them.

Be sure to click YES if you're coming.  We need  to start getting a head count for the food team.

February's Teams...

Meeting leader: Kim Hindmon

Prayer Team: Connie and Christy

Outreach: Ashley and Misti

Food Team: Cindy, Jackie, Janet and Angie
