Good evening;
Our new website at londonlegiontrack.ca has attracted a huge regional and global following in just our first month of implementation. The heat map of site access, below, illustrates the incredible interest in our London Legion Track website in London, our region, Ontario, Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, NewYork, Canada West, Quebec, and California, Texas and Florida. Interest in the progress of our athletes, coaches and our organization extends to Europe, Japan, India, Africa and Malyasia. Rightly so, our athletes have competed across our region, North America and the World. Over 18 club athletes were selected to represent Canada at World Track & Field Championship events.
Since our last newletter our athletes have competed at the 2016 Akron University Rubber Open, one of the largest high school meets in the state of Ohio. Club athletes places 3 athletes in the highly competitive girls 60m hurdle final, Kaylyn Hall 7th, Kylie Paliani 5th, and Tess Verhoeven 3rd, all in personal best or near personal best performances. In the 200m, Davis Edward placed second with a time of 22.62 and is now Canada #3 as a Junior. Cameron Hoggarth also placed 2nd in the 800m. Finally Brooke Overholt, a first year youth ran personal best times in the girls 200m and 400m and remains ranked 7th in Canada in the 400m.
Our legacy YouTube channel which contains all of our HD quality race videos continues to grow and improve. We are now at 45,317 visits and close to 1 month of channel viewership. Next month we should welcome our 50,000 YouTube visitor. We are one of the largest T&F content providers in Canada.
We are working towards the of our indoor season at the 2016 Athletics Ontario Bantam, Midget & Junior Championship which will be held at York University on March 5-6. There will be no high school practice at Thompson tomorrow due to High School and Varsity Hockey games. There will be regular weekend practices for our distance group and our high school sprints, hurdles and jumps group will train this Saturday at 4 PM at Thompson Arena.
We wish all of our athletes continued success over the next few weeks as they work toward their indoor and outdoor competition goals.
