There is an ever increasing population of homeless youth in our community.  Brooklyn Avenues has done something about this by building a shelter for these youth, somewhere they can be safe.

"Brooklyn Avenues" is a brand-new 12-bed short-term housing program for homeless youth located in the City of Brooklyn Park. The program provides safe and stable shelter and transitional housing with intensive support services for homeless youth ages 16 to 21 from the northwestern suburbs.  Their goals are to get homeless youth off the streets and out of harm’s way, provide homeless youth a safe and home-like place to stabilize, address their crisis needs, begin healing from their trauma and start addressing long-term goals.

Brooklyn Avenues literally helps homeless youth move from “surviving the streets to thriving young adults," and helps them gain hope for their future, a healthy sense of self-worth and the skills to pursue larger goals. They accomplish this by supporting the youth as they continue their education, seek employment, address larger life issues, learn independent living skills, build relationships with family and others, seek to reunify with family and find permanent housing. 

Tasty Treats and Fancy Sweets has decided to reach out and build a relationship with Brooklyn Avenues.  I truly believe that it is all about giving back to your community or "paying it forward".  I believe that we are all here to help others.  That is the reason I became a nurse 27 years ago and that is the reason that I wanted to build this relationship with Brooklyn Avenues now that I am a dessert maker.  With that being said, Tasty Treats and Fancy Sweets is donating 10% of all of our sales to Brooklyn Avenues to assist in assuring this program will be around for a long time.
