You may have lower vitamin D levels.  In a follow up study on vitamin D levels, there is a significant connection between abdominal fat and lower levels of vitamin D.  Now, this does not mean you should rush out and start taking vitamin D nor that if you do take vitamin D that you will be rocking the 6 pack abs...but it may help you to reduce the amount of viseral fat you have in your belly which is the fat we are most concerned about leading to premature death.  AS ALWAYS speak with your physician before making any changes to your diet.

How Can I Get More Vitamin D

 

Vitamin D is manufactured by exposing your bare skin to the sun.  That just seems shocking in the days of spray sunscreen, etc.  But it seems we need roughly 15 minutes of time in the sun bare skinned to make enough vitamin D.

This is a VERY slippery slope.  You don't want to burn and subject your skin to potential changes and skin cancers but the need for vitamin D is also very important.   Vitamin D helps to promote bone growth but when you are deficient   that has some very scary consequences.
