Injury and recovery

18 January 2017

How has your January been so far?  Always a bit of a funny month - weather is changeable - foggy one day, mild the next followed swiftly by bitter cold.  We start resolutions and vow to become fitter, perhaps cut out alcohol.  Let's not give ourselves too much of a hard time - 2017 is yet young!

At the end of January I will be closing my Friday clinic in Chichester.  If you would like to book in with me in Chichester, I have availability this week (20th), but I am fully booked on the 27th.

I will be focusing my attention on my clinic on Hayling Island, but for those who would have preferred to see me in Chichester, I may be able to offer a home visit.

So please do get in touch if you would like to make an appointment and would like to discuss options.  Remember, I also offer TheraParties, in the comfort of your own home, for a minimum of four people.

Focus on... injury!

I had reason to use my own services just this week when I turned my ankle over.  Very frustrating and the kind of thing that can happen to anyone, anywhere.

I sprang into action with homeopathy - great for sports injuries and to help to get you back on your feet quicker.

Here's a little run down of homeopathic remedies useful in injuries:

* Shock and trauma of injury - Arnica

* Injury to the soft tissue/muscle - Arnica

* Injury to nerves or parts of the body rich with nerves (feet, fingers, back) - Hypericum

* Injuries with shooting pains - Hypericum

* Injury to Coccyx - Hypericum

* Sprains/strains Arnica (immediately after injury) - Arnica, Rhus Tox, Bryonia, Ledum

* Easily sprained ankles - Ledum

* Tendonitis - Rhus Tox, Bryonia

* Severe sprains - Rhus Tox, Bryonia, Ruta (if Rhus or Bryonia not effective)

* Dislocation - Arnica (with shooting pain - Hypericum)

* Injuries to periosteum (bone-covering) - Ruta

* Injury to knee or elbow - Ruta

* Shin splints - Rhus Tox

* Head injury (immediately after injury) - Arnica

* Bruises and contusions - Arnica

* Blisters, cuts - Calendula (use externally)

* Lacerations and deep cuts - Hypericum externally followed by Calendula externally

Incidentally, I also used kinesiology taping to support and help with inflammation while giving me freedom of movement.

So how is 2017 treating you? Are you feeling overwhelmed by the rat race?

Don't let your busy life become too much for you. Take action before you begin to feel the effects physically or your feel you are struggling to cope. Escape to the tranquillity of my therapy room on Hayling Island.

I offer homeopathy to give you the space to explore the areas of your life that are holding you back, whether physically or emotionally. Reiki to help you find your bliss again. And Indian Head Massage and Natural Facelift Massage to help you take some well deserved me-time.

Swedish and deep tissue massage can help you eleviate stiffness and muscular pain, or just help you to relax.... And if you are welcoming a new addition into your your family this year talk to me about the benefits of pregancy massage.

As well as regular massage sessions, Epsom salt baths can play an important role in helping to keep you feeling limber.

One of the simplest ways to ease stress and stress-related problems is to soak in a hot bath with some Epsom salt. Some of the benefits include:

* Eases stress and relaxes the body...
Stress drains the body of magnesium and increases levels of adrenaline. When dissolved in warm water, Epsom salt is absorbed through the skin and replenishes the level of magnesium in the body. The magnesium helps to produce serotonin, a mood-elevating chemical within the brain that creates a feeling of calm and relaxation.

* Relieves pain and muscle cramps
An Epsom salt bath is known to ease pain and relieve inflammation, making it beneficial in the treatment of sore muscles, bronchial asthma, and migraine headaches.

* Helps muscles and nerves function properly
Studies show that Epsom salt can help regulate electrolytes in your body, ensuring proper functioning of the muscles, nerves, and enzymes.

* Eliminates toxins from the body
The sulfates in Epsom salt help flush toxins and heavy metals from the cells, easing muscle pain and helping the body to eliminate harmful substances.

So there you have it! This is why I love my Epsom salt!

I have 1kg bags of Westlab Epsom Salt in stock at only £5. Shout if you would like some.
