CYY Parent Corner

CYY undoubtedly raises the bar for Daniel and Joshua in so, so, so many ways.

--  Susan Garlinger, Parent of Campers since 2013

Salem, Oregon

"Every year, CYY is an important step for Daniel and Joshua. The first year it served as boot camp for kindergarten. The second year it served as a place to go back to. The third year served as boot camp for going to lunch, recess, and PE with typically developing kids at school. I cannot  describe the thrill I experienced when Daniel and I were sitting on a bench at the waterpark in McMinnville, waiting for the rest of our family to dry off and get dressed. A woman and little girl walked up to us and the Mom said, "my daughter has PE with Daniel at school and she wants to come and talk to him." My son is 8 years old and has never had a friend approach him. I'll never forget that experience. CYY undoubtedly raises the bar for Daniel and Joshua in so, so, so many ways. And each year we come away . . . and as the weeks and months roll by, there are new things/new milestones that I realize have their roots in those two weeks of camp at CYY!"
