Welcome To The

Year of The Co-op!

Fasten Your Seatbelts!

We are Ready to FLY.....

Keep your eyes on Facebook - maybe even a quick email shout. We will have some very exciting news next week :)

(all on the hush-hush right now - but very exciting!!)

The video Food for Change was a great success at the Manitowoc Library! We had over 50 people show up and had some fantastic discussions.

July 7th we will be showing the video again at the Lester Library in Two Rivers. We want the Clipper City Co-op to be a true community co-op for the Lakeshore and need to spread the word far and wide. Hoping for an even greater turn out. If you couldn't make the first showing in Manitowoc, stop over at 5pm in Two Rivers for a wonderful get-together.

We are forming quite a little support group with community minded people and organizations - and this is just the way the Co-op wants to head!

Healthiest Manitowoc County, Grow It Forward, Farmers Market - pairing up and working together with others. This is the goal and mission of the Co-op - it's the way to make the community strong and vibrant and something that people can be proud of and support!

Cycling for Sustainability is another group that the Co-op can get behind. And there are many others in the surrounding communities. One of our visions is to be at the center of this community support - a common thread of bringing people and ideas together. And we WILL get there!!

Our next Steering Committee meeting is June 22, 6:30 to 8pm, at the Holy Family Wellness Center on 41st St in Manitowoc, in the Cooperstown Room .

We will try having Open Meetings every month, on the 4th Monday. It's a way for you to see what goes on at Steering Committee meetings, perhaps ask a question or two. We are determined to be as open and transparent as we can and this will carry on to the Co-op itself. We are community owned and run and as such, as much as possible will not be hidden or done behind closed doors.

An Open Meeting is just that - we will have a regular meeting, talk about and decide things that are on our agenda and we invite you to sit in and watch the process. Afterwards, if you have any questions we will try to answer them. It will not be a Listening Session with a lot of discussion from guests, but it is a chance to see what we do and stay informed and involved.

Watch for reminders on Facebook!

We are going forward with our goal of gaining 100 Seed Members for the Co-op - another party this Friday nite! This one may be a big one, with up to 20 people. Really looking forward to that!

But no matter the size - 3 or 4 people, a few friends, your card club, the people you eat lunch with at work - any group, any number. Having a house party is a great way to get some one-on-one info about the Clipper City Co-op, ask all the questions you can think of, get to know some of the Steering Committee and find out about becoming a Seed Member of the Co-op.

Becoming a Seed Member is showing financial support for our co-op and enabling us to move ahead with a feasibility study, business plan and many other things that unfortunately need money to accomplish. Becoming a Seed Member is saying 'I believe in and want to support the Clipper City Co-op and help it on it's way to becoming a solid reality!'

Speaking of support......

Whether or not you are able to become a Seed Member, volunteering is a way to get involved, show support and be a strong, WELCOME, needed part of the growing Co-op community. Jena volunteered 1 Sat a month to help with our presence at the Manitowoc Farmers Market. You don't need to have tons of time to give - maybe help with one of our tables at local events, help with open meetings or listening sessions. Like using social media or doing PR? Talk to Cath!

We have lots of opportunities for people to get involved - just ask! :)

As always - keep checking on Facebook, letting us know what your thoughts are. Watch for Jill's blog. Share this newsletter with anyone who you think may have an interest - all we need is an email address. And also check on the website when you can - Kim is always updating it and making it better and easier :)

We have exciting things happening and we will always tell you the news...we may even SHOUT it a bit!!
