In general, what is your athletic background?  I played soccer and tennis in junior high and high school

 

How did you learn about CrossFit Kalamazoo? Julie Locker-that should explain it all.

 

How has CrossFit Kalamazoo changed your life, lifestyle, and level of fitness? CrossFit has changed my life in so many ways. I was a couch potato, that quit everything I started. CrossFit has taught me to never quit and never give up!


List short/long term goals you would like to accomplish through CrossFit Kalamazoo:

Long Term, I have a lot of work yet to do. When I get discouraged that I am not moving toward my goals fast enough, I remind myself that it took 20 years to get this way, fitness doesn’t happen overnight.  

 

Short term: One single pullup would change my world.

 

What do you like most about CrossFit Kalamazoo? The people are the best thing about CFK. They are incredibly supportive and push me to be better every day.

 

What is your favorite CrossFit movement? Deadlift

 

What is your least favorite CrossFit movement? WALLBALLS

 

What are you currently doing to try to improve your diet?

Hahaha, not enough.  My diet is a work in progress also. Trying to find some balance between eating well and the occasional pizza!

 

Favorite movie: Trainspotting

Favorite and/or current book: Just starting the Goldfinch by Donna Tartt

Favorite music genre/artist: Indie rock

 

Achievements you’d like to highlight within your life: I ran a half marathon 2 years ago and I will be adding Festivus to that list next month.

List a few things we don’t know about you: I love dogs, wine and knitting.

HIP HOP LIFT A LOT BBQ WOD Fun!!

Congratulations to our first annual "HIP HOP LIFT A LOT BBQ WOD" winning team of Amy DeYoung & Julie Locker who lifted a combined total weight of 75,415 lbs. Taking second place was Samantha Smith & Heather Gatton and taking third place was Alan Strong & Brian Zack. And a big hats off to all of our other participants for making this a fun, safe, and challenging WOD, GREAT JOB ALL!

Try A Class - Two Options To Give Us A Try!

 

At CrossFit Kalamazoo, we’re not just about the fitness. We are about saving lives and being a part of your journey to live a quality and healthy life!  We would love to have you give us a try and see what we are all about!  We now offer a couple options for you to "Try A Class"!   One option is for those ready to jump right in and the other is for those looking to ease in!

 

1)  Our Saturday Partner WOD (workout of the day) at 10:00am is our primary class dedicated for newbies to try.  This is a fast and intense workout and you will join our CFK  Athletes.  A Coach will be assigned to you and you'll be encouraged to go at a pace that is comfortable for you.

 

2 ) If are looking to Try a Class that is a little slower pace with a little less intensity and more of a one on one approach, we can schedule a time for you to meet with a Coach during the week (M-Thurs @ 5pm, 6pm or 7pm or Friday @ 5pm or 6pm).  This Try A Class Option is formatted to introduce you to the CrossFit basics and will end with a short WOD.  This is a great option if you are feeling a little inimidated about getting started or  haven't worked out for awhile.  It will give you a feel of our class format  and you'll have a good workout!

 

Each option is a great opportunity to try out a workout at our facility, meet the Coaches, and visit with our CFK community!

 

Each class is 1 hour long. The cost to join this class is $10 (limited to newbies to CrossFit and does not apply to experienced CrossFitters dropping in).  If you sign up for our On-Ramp class, the $10 intro fee will be applied to the cost of the On-Ramp class. 

 

Reservations are required so please call or text 269-251-1677 or send an email to crossfitkalamazoo@gmail.com to reserve a spot.  Since class starts on the hour, please arrive 15 minutes early to check in, complete a waiver and stretch.  You can also register, prepay and complete the waiver on-line:
