Cub Scout Pack 375 April 2019 Newsletter |

Wow! This year is flying by. We only have two months left to our Scout Year. That doesn't mean that things are winding down though. We still have plenty of activities and opportunities for the rest of the year. We also plan to have some activities throughout the summer as well. Below we have information about many of these activities. Do you want to hear a joke about a ruler? |

April Pack Meeting Thursday, April 25th, 2019 @ 6:30 PM |
We are trying something new with the April Pack Meeting. Instead of a traditional Pack Meeting, we are going to have an "Open House & Activity Night." Scouts from several local Scouts BSA Troops and the Order of the Arrow will be present to do demonstrations and organize activities. Before the meeting, the Webelos I and Lion dens will have a short musical performance. The meeting will start with a flag ceremony as usual, but after that Scouts and parents will be free to participate in the activities and demonstrations. |
Pack 375 in School Day & Recruiting To help promote our Open House, I invite all of our Pack 375 Scouts to wear their Class B Shirts (Pack 375 T-Shirts) to school on Thursday, April 18th. I will have a special treat at the Pack Meeting for any Scout who participates. This would also be a great opportunity for Scouts to earn a Recruiting Patch. |

Pack 375 Spring Campout May 3 - 5, 2019 We have reserved the entire group camping area at Black Moshannon State Park for our Spring Campout. Watch for an e-mail with more information in the coming week. For families who are not ready for tent camping, there are a limited number of cabin and RV camping sites available in the park, but in a different location from the group camping area. You are welcome to reserve and stay in those sites and join us in the group camping area for our activities. As of the publishing of this newsletter, only one cabin and one RV site are still available for the weekend. These sites fill up quickly, so make sure to book them ASAP. If you anticipate needing equipment for the campout, please let me know. I will be happy to offer suggestions if you would like to buy equipment, or try to help you find loaner equipment if that is what you need. If you will be buying equipment, you may want to start looking now since there is sometimes a better selection of products at on-line retailers that do not offer free 2 day shipping. |

Scouts in Action Our Scouts have been busy representing Pack 375 again: |
Our Lion Den had 2 visitors join them for their April Den Meeting. Each of the Scouts and visitors created a "Birthday Bag" for the Fillmore Food Pantry. |
The Webelos I Den made their leaders and parents proud during their visit to the Palmer Museum. The Scouts were exceptionally well behaved, asked well thought out questions and were very respectful of the docents giving the tours. |

Service Hour Reporting Speaking of Scouts in Action, any service project hours should be reported so we can track them. This is important for several reasons: - Helps the Juniata Valley Council & Nittany District while applying for grants and financial assistance.
- Counts toward Pack 375's "Journey to Excellence"
- Keep a record of a Scout's service hours throughout his or her Scouting career.
Service hours get reordered with BSA and also in Scoutbook. If you send the information to me, I will record it in both places for you. I am currently looking for any service project hours completed in 2019. Individual / Family Projects Please send the following information or complete the Service Project Reporting Form and send it to cubscouts375@gmail.com. - Date of Service Project
Number of youth members (Scouts) participating in the project Number of youth who are not members participating in the project Number of adult leaders participating in the project Number of other adults participating in the project Total unit hours - including members and non-members (example: 10 people worked 2 hours = 20 total unit hours) Description of the project, including the name of the organization benefiting from the project and any relevant statistics (for example, if it is a food drive, how many food items were collected?)
Group Projects Please fill out the Service Project Reporting Form and e-mail it to cubscouts375@gmail.com or give it to Joe Zanghi. |

Scoutbook Tip - Scout Awards Did you know that there are awards that Scouts can earn besides their rank requirements and electives? Scoutbook is a great way to brows all of the awards that your Scout may be eligible to earn. You may be surprised what he or she has completed without even realizing it. |
- Log into Scoutbook.com
- Click on "My Dashboard"
- If "My Family" is not already displayed, click on "Administration"
- Click on your Scout's name
- Below your Scout's information you will see a section for "Advancement" showing the rank requirements and ranks already earned followed by a section for "Awards" showing the awards that he or she has already earned. Below that click on the link for "(Scout's Name)'s Awards."
- From there you can browse all of the awards in Scoutbook that your Scout may be eligible to earn.
Note that Pack 375 cannot retroactively present awards earned in previous years, however you are welcome to mark them as completed for your own records. Also, a Scout's current leader must approve any advancement marked complete by a parent. A Scout is Trustworthy. Please only mark off requirements that have been actually completed by your Scout. It does not do him or her any good to have a uniform full of awards that they have no clue how they earned. |
