The Praesens Foundation had the honour and utmost pleasure of meeting the French President Mr. Emmanuel Macron, during his state visit to Belgium last week that aimed at consolidating the close partnership that unites the two countries.
During the economic session on the 19th of November at the City Hall in Ghent,
Dr. Rudi Pauwels presented the Praesens Foundation's mission and Mobile Lab pilot study in Senegal in collaboration with the Institut Pasteur de Dakar to the French President who was accompanied by His Royal Highness King Philippe of Belgium, Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel, Minister President of Flanders Geert Bourgeois and Mayor of Ghent, Daniël Termont.
The Praesens Foundation had been selected as its projects contribute to the spirit of solidarity and cooperation that characterizes relations between France and Belgium for sustainable impact and the social good in the domain of public health.
After the French President expressed his interest in our project and asked about our next steps, Dr. Rudi Pauwels shared that with an eye on scaling up and expanding
the Foundation's activities, he believes this project will serve as an example for other African countries. To this end, upcoming partnerships with the Africa CDC (specialised technical institution of the African Union to prevent infectious diseases), Fondation Mérieux, Microsoft and illumina were announced. Since its inception, the Praesens Foundation has been supported by many partners, both private and public, that have contributed to the success of our endeavours. We therefore remain committed to forge new alliances.
