Cub Scout Pack 375

September 2019 Newsletter

Thank you to everyone who made it out to our Popcorn Kickoff and Movie Night last week and to our First Pack Meeting of the year.  Both events were a huge success, even if we were a bit cramped for space during the Pack Meeting.  Thank you for your patients while we tried to fit everyone into a fraction of the space we typically use. If that was your first Pack Meeting, please know that was not typical.

Dues Payments - On Hold

A large portion of the Pack Dues that we collect this fall will go toward the 2020 BSA Registration, which we pay as a Pack on behalf of all of our Scouts in December.  I have just received notification from our District Commissioner that Boy Scouts of America will be raising their registration fees for the 2020 calendar year due to a rise in the cost of insurance.  Unfortunately, they have not told us exactly how much they are going up, or even given us an idea of the magnitude of the increase.

Due to the uncertainty created by this announcement, we are temporarily suspending collection of the Pack 375 2019-2020 Dues.  The Pack Committee's hope is that the increase will be minor, in which case we will hold the Pack Dues to the previously announced rates.  The Council has promised an answer by the end of October.  As soon as we get more information, we will let you know.

I understand how frustrating this can be for all of you.  Believe me, I am right there with you.  Unfortunately, this situation is out of the control of Pack 375 or even the local District.  What I can say is that we will not let this prevent us from continuing to offer fun, meaningful and wholesome activities and events for your Scouts.

Note that this does not impact registration for 2019.  All new Scouts should still register with BSA using the link that has been provided to you previously, and all existing Scouts are already registered through the end of 2019.
