Do You Know Your Swing?

At Titleist Performance Institute (TPI)  the mantra has always been 'many ways to swing a golf club, one efficient way for you'. Video analysis helps you understand the where, what and why for your targeted improvement. Here is an excerpt of a 5 minute analysis.

Keys to Putting Reminder

We have  blogs that you can take a look at to refresh your memory, but here are the main ideas.

1. Choose a putter that fits your stroke- arc- minimal or maximal vs straight back and straight through

2. Choose a grip sized to quiet your hands or allow a full release, depending on your style

3. Get your set up to match up with how your eyes see the line

4. Work on drills that train:

a) starting the ball on the intended line

b) speed

c) duplication of game time

5. Minimize lower body movement to keep putter face square at impact

6. Minimize use of lead wrist as a lever, so that you can start the ball rolling end over end as quickly as possible

Get it Right

Golf Fitness

You are contained by the parameters of what your body can do. When you have limitations, your body will compensate, decreasing performance and potentially leading to injury. Get assessed, so you are not guessing. Fitness for golf is more than general fitness, so ensure that not only is your cardio respiratory system in good order but also that your mobility range, especially end-stage, is stable. Book your appointment now!

ROTATION
Golf is a rotational sport. Period. While the pundits will say that the training protocols do not need to be golf specific, I don't think those knuckleheads (tell us how you really feel Coach) would argue that only training linear, frontal and sagittal for golf will be ridiculous.

Even basic movement patterns without load will have neuro-muscular benefits.

Here's something simple to do daily for a few minutes.

Set up in your normal address position and place a club across your shoulders, holding it in place with your hands. Rotate your core away from your target until the club points at the ball on the ground. Now rotate your core toward your target until the other end of the club points at the same spot on the ground. This will allow you to feel the proper rotation of your core while maintaining the same spine angle.

If you want to take it to the Next Level to increase your club head speed and thereby add some yards to your drive, you can either bounce around YouTube trying to figure it out for yourself or look at our RtX Program built on the foundation of one of the top rotational coaches in the world, with whom I had the distinct pleasure of being certified by at Titleist Performance Institute.

RtX Program

Early Extension: one of Titleist Performance Institute (TPI)  12 swing Characteristics

Simply when the pelvis moves towards the ball at impact. The best long drivers actually move their pelvis AWAY from the ball- 400 plus yards!

Get assessed as to WHY you may be doing it, so that you can pursue the necessary corrective protocols.  Stop guessing at the reason.
