The Knitting Studio will be teaching classes alongside other great instructors at the Finger Lakes Machine Knitting Seminar! The seminar takes place from September 28th - 29th, 2018 at Port Watson Mini Conference Center, Cortland, NY
Classes lined up from the Knitting Studio are:
Getting Started with Easy Basics
With these easy basics you'll be machine knitting with ease in no time! This is a great class for absolute beginners or for those who would like a more complete understanding of machine operation and care. We'll go over machine maintenance, changing needles with and without a project in progress, and yarn for your machine. A few other things we'll cover are casting on with your ribber, and couple of different ways to cast on and off with your main bed, taking out rows, and fixing dropped stitches.
Lace Knitting
Knitting lace with the knitting machine is quite satisfying! In this class you'll see how to knit lace several different ways. We'll start with the lace carriage for Singer brand/types of knitting machines. With this lace carriage we'll go over the differences between plain lace and fashion lace, and all the details for smooth operation. We'll also go over motif lace knitting with this carriage. With the main bed carriage, you'll see how to create thread lace and tuck lace using punch cards.
Rib and Fair Isle Sock
Learn how to machine knit a Fair Isle sock with a ribbed cuff! In this class you'll see a quick four row cast on in rib, transitions between rib, punch card, and plain jersey knitting, as well as short rowing for the heel and toe.
Increasing and Decreasing for Main Bed and Ribber
Understand how to get the right shape, and which technique to use for your machine knitted items! We'll go over multi decreases and increases, and two options for single increases and decreases for your main bed machine knitting. For your rib knitting, you'll see two different ways to single increase, and we'll also go over multi increases and decreases as well as single decreases. Fully fashioned increases and decreases will also be covered in this class.
Trims and Finishes
Give your machine knitted items a polished look with trims and finishes! We'll start with some good basics for different kinds of hems, and trims for necklines including stolling. Bead-work will also be covered to add a little texture, and of course understanding how to link your pieces together using the knitting machine.
