Looking for fun things to do with kids in the St. Petersburg area this week? Here are some of the exciting events featured in our weekly schedule and on our calendar.

 

KIDS EAT FREE

Monday, August 14

 

Now that the big kids are back in school, it's time for the little ones to have fun! Great Explorations kicks off two weeks of Totally Tots programming just for kids five and under today.  Every week day, the museum will offer activities for tots and preschoolers, including special guest appearances. The daily schedule includes music and movement activites at 10:30am, science or math activities at 11:30am, and art, literacy or sensory activities at 3:30pm.

Tuesday, August 15

 

Totally Tots continues at Great Explorations with a free Music Together class with Music & Me at 10:30am. Space is limited and is first-come, first-served. At 6pm, join Seminole Community Library for a special Solar Eclipse edition of Crafty Kids. Children in grades K through 5 can partake in space-themed activites and experiments and will also receive a free pair of solar viewing glasses.

Wednesday, August 16

 

Join St. Pete Eco-Village for a farm and garden community day! From 9am to 1pm, you can help in the garden in a variety of tasks, taste veggies, pick veggies and flowers or tour the Eco Village Farm. All ages are welcome and kids are encouraged to attend! Looking to get creative with your little one? Bring your preschooler to Practically Pikasso for Paint Me a Story Time starting at 11am. Featured this month is "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and an adorable mug featuring your child's fingerprints. Cost is $15 in advance and $18 for walk-ins.

HIPPY (Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters) Pinellas will be sharing information and resources at Great Explorations from 10am until noon. Stick around the museum for more Totally Tots activities throughout the day. Want to help your elementary-aged children unwind after school? Try Mindful Kids Yoga at St. Petersburg Yoga. Beginning at 4pm, kids will learn to center their mind, feel their breath, work with others and find and trust their individual edge in this healthy and fun class. A single class pass costs $10 (or $50 for a shareable 10 class pass).
