In 2014, visionary consultant, educator, and mentor, Shanté Roddy launched Intuitive Risk Management Intl. IRMI is a full service risk management firm that provides targeted solutions to enterprise organizations, small businesses, employers, individuals and families. With more than 16 years of management experience in information technology, government administration, healthcare and more, Ms. Roddy was ready to step out on her own and help others. “I knew that I could use my knowledge and expertise to help companies rethink the way they do business and help them focus on basic fundamentals”, says Ms. Roddy.

While the risk management firm is only 3-years-old, Roddy knows the life of an entrepreneur is no walk in the park. She strives to instill in CEOs and managers the importance of big picture thinking while acknowledging a brand’s customers, employees, integrity and quality are more significant than any bottom line figure. It is that sense of professionalism and way of thinking that has allowed IRMI to make a difference in the lives of many small business owners.

Ms. Roddy envisions IRMI being a leading risk management and consulting agency within the healthcare, government and IT industries in years to come. She looks to expand the company’s services by offering webinars and workshops, as well increase community partnerships.

A native of Ohio, Ms. Roddy values her community and believes it's her responsibility to help pave the way for others to achieve their dreams. “I want to help educate and empower people to meet the challenges of life, improve their quality of living and provide a legacy for generations to come."

Ask the CEO

Q: I’ve been working with the same company for over five years. Recently there was a change in management and their practices have caused me to show disinterest in my job. How do I confront them without overstepping any boundaries?

Shanté: Change is to be expected! It’s often an emotional experience and impacts people experiencing the change in different ways. As a member of the team, know that you have a voice and you matter. Evaluate your feelings about the change and determine if it’s an aversion to change that’s making you uncomfortable or if the practices truly deviate from your personal values. If you can reasonably say that the practices or unethical actions compromise your values, try communicating your concerns (follow the chain of command). Find ways that you can be an agent for change to help management address the new practices that may be negatively affecting the company, department or team members. If you have tried to work with management and you believe you are unable to work in the new environment, it may be a sign that your assignment has concluded and it may be time for you to plan your exit strategy. Cross over the bridge, but don’t burn it.
