Thanks to your unwavering support we had a great 2nd edition back in March!
In May, three SR FF team members attended the Cannes Film Festival showcasing select SR 2015 docs at the Cannes Doc Corner. In an intimate ceremony on the Cannes Croisette, SR officially awarded Kaouther Ben Hania, director of The Challat of Tunis, with the SRFF Grand Prize Sona Bowl trophy designed by Michael Aram. The film also enjoyed a weeklong run at the Quad Cinema as part of the prize in April.
After a brief summer hiatus, the SRFF team began preparations for the 3rd edition with an official kickoff party in September. In early October, SR attended Albert Maysles’ Memorial,
a great tribute to the master documentarist. Earlier in March, SRFF honored Maysles with a Lifetime of Inspiration Award.
