Den Updates Even with the busy holiday schedules and relatively short time since our last update, some of our dens have still managed to squeeze in a few fun activites. Here's a sampling: |
Den 9 - Boy Lions Lion Den 9 decided the best way to beat the winter blues was to get our fitness on as we completed the Fun on the Run Adventure, or what we more affectionately referred to as Rumble in the Jungle! The boys practiced some exercises, including yoga, that we can do indoors even when it's too cold to play some of the sports we enjoy in the warmer months outside. Cubmaster Joe loaned us some gymnastic equipment that we used to create a 5 station obstacle courses that we completed forwards, backwards, as jungle animals and then even in the dark using our flashlights and glow bracelets as we pretended to be adventuring in the wild jungle! We wrapped up our evening munching on a healthy snack as we talked about the importance of health and nutrition. Our AOL helper Aidan taught the boys some meditation and mindfulness techniques that we intend to practice at home on our own. |
Den 4 - Gray's Woods Bears At our den meeting we worked on Baloo the Builder. We discussed what hand tools would be good to have in our tool boxes and the related safety tips for using those tools. The Bears had a chance to practice their skills at three different stations: hammer, screwdriver, and measuring and sawing. We decided what projects to build and talked about how to choose the wood for our projects. We will build them at our next den meeting. |
Den 2 - Webelos Several members of Den 2 got together over Christmas break and completed 75% of the Build It elective. They used Mr. Ted's blueprint to build a Klondike Derby sled for our den. These Webelos reviewed the tools from their Baloo the Builder projects last year, and safely tried new tools like a cordless drill, sander, framing square, and even a Saws All. When spring comes, the den will visit a construction site to complete Build It. Our Klondike Derby team (Michael, Noah, Regan, William, and Zach) is practicing their teamwork, learning new information, and developing a new appreciation for packing light! Think of us on the 25th!! |

Winter Camping January 17 - 19, 2020 - Seven Mountains Scout Camp Winter Camping is less than a week away, and we have snow in the forecast! Yippee! The Pack Leaders have been working hard to plan another fun filled weekend for all of our Scouts. It's not too late to sign up! As was mentioned in our December Newsletter we have made some changes to our camping policies. Please see the newsletter for complete information. However, I would like to highlight one of the changes because I fear that it has been missed by many families. Wolf Scouts and older may attend without a parent under the following conditions (per BSA policies): - The Scout's parents must make arrangements with another adult to be responsible for the Scout for the entire time the Scout is present. This includes transportation to and from the event.
- Each adult in attendance my only be responsible for one Scout besides their own children.
- Arrangements for lone scouts must be made before signing up for the event. Note which adult will be responsible for the Scout in the sign-up.
- Non-registered youth are not permitted without a parent.
Signup & Payment Please sign up using the form below. Cost and attendance options are also explained on the signup page. Payment will be collected at the January Pack Meeting. If you would like to use money from your family's fundraising account, please e-mail <cubtreasurer375@gmail.com> to let us know. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0C48A8AD2FA4F49-winter5 The deadline to sign up or make changes to your sign up is Wednesday, January 15th! |
