Is business stressing you out?  Studies show massage can help!  Read more below...  And - space is available on my Reiki level 1 training taking place next week!

There is space on my level one Reiki workshop taking place at my home in Mengham, Hayling Island, on Wednesday 24 April.  If you feel drawn to Reiki or you would you like to develop your own abilities and take your first Reiki attunement then I encourage you to take this journey with me.

Reiki is a beautiful therapy and you can incorporate it into many aspects of your life to encourage relaxation and healing.

Following your Level 1 training you will be able to give yourself self treatments and to practice on family, friends and also your pets.  When using Reiki on others you will you will be able to give them healing Reiki energy and pick up on their energies, which can give an insight into their emotional, physical and spiritual health.

During your training we will focus on the general principles of Reiki and learn about the history and roots. You will receive a powerful Reiki attunement that will connect you to Reiki energy for life. We will learn about chakras and come to understand what each chakra is responsible for and you will begin to trust your instincts and get in touch with yourself on a whole new level.  During the day I wholeheartedly encourage questions and discussion and we can learn so much about ourselves.

On a practical level, you will also be taught how to give a treatment, firstly to yourself and secondly to other people. We will practice giving ourselves Reiki and later you will receive a treatment from your learning partner and also give one in return.

Focus on..... massage in the business world

According to a piece in Forbes magazine, business leaders are looking at massage as a necessity, like exercise and eating well.  Many studies point to the benefits of massage.  And execs are changing their mindset from thinking of massage as a treat to seeing it as an essential part of their routine to keep them top of their game.

Here are five reasons why you should stop making excuses and book that massage today:

1.  Massage can help spark creative ideas
The business world is fast-paced and stressful and to help solve problems you need a relaxed mind.  When we are too focused on a problem we are often blind to it.  Massage helps you to calm, think more clearly and get a better picture.

2.  Massage can help reduce pain and boost immunity
According to the Mayo Clinic, massage has proven to be an effective treatment for reducing stress, pain and muscle tension and has also been shown to help those suffering from anxiety, headaches, digestive disorders, sports injuries, joint pain, fibromyalgia and lower back pain.  Most sit at their desks for long hours and may suffer from neck and back pain - so regular massage will help you feel better, think clearer and be more productive.  Research also indicates that massage can help boost your immune system. So stay healthy and schedule your regular massage.  Having a massage on a regular basis increases the activity level of the body’s white blood cells that fight viruses.

3.  Massage can help increase your productivity
Many studies link massage to improved brainpower and productivity.  Enough said!

4. Massage can help you sleep better
Those who receive regular massages spend more time in deep sleep -  the restorative stage of the sleep cycle. To avoid tossing and turning regular massage sessions will help you relax, relieve work stress, reboot your mind and sleep better.  You'll b ready to tackle the next day feeling completely refreshed.

5. Massage can reduce stress symptoms
Massage helps alleviate stress and its more than the calming music and healing touch helping the body to relax. Research suggests that frequent massage reduces cortisol - a major stress hormone, and high levels of cortisol have been linked to high blood pressure, suppressed immune system function and obesity.

So you know what to do - call Leslie on 07871 697000 and schedule your regular massage sessions.  You'll be sure to notice the difference!

Focus on.... massage for DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness)

A few of my friends are doing the London Marathon soon and I am so proud of them!  And I think we can agree that their legs will probably be quite sore afterwards!

Even when you feel like tapping out in pain, there is something satisfying about receiving and surviving a massage on tired legs.  The psychological benefits of being touched and muscles being worked is so beneficial.  And there have also been a number of studies that indicate that massage therapy after strenuous exercise could be effective for alleviating DOMS and improving muscle performance.

In short, findings demonstrated that muscle soreness rating decreased significantly when receiving massage intervention compared with no intervention. Sounds good, huh!
