Get Ready for the Fourth of July!

The City's Fourth of July festivities is one of the major events of the year!!  And the Arts Foundation will be there.  Our booth will feature a large mural for the kids to color, and we'll be handing out glow in the dark bracelets (a handy item for keeping track of kids at the nighttime fireworks).

We'll also have information about our new Community Mosaic Project, and a chance to join/renew your membership.  Special for the Fourth of July only--individual membership is only $25 ($10 off the regular price).

Funding for the Community Mosaic Project is Announced!

We reported last month that we partnered with Nimbus Arts, the Boys & Girls Club of Napa Valley and the American Canyon Community Parks Foundation, to create a community mosaic art project, and install it at the new Boys & Girls Club in American Canyon. 

We're excited to report that the first phase of funding has been secured.  The Arts Council Napa Valley approved a $5000 grant to go towards the project.

We still need another $6000 to fund the project, but the grant is enough to get us started.  We will need to contract with an artist to design the mosaic, and then host a number of community events for the public to come forward and help assemble the tile project.  Once complete, it will be installed on the front wall of the new Boys & Girls Club.

Artist Reception at the Welcome Center--and more!

On June 15, we hosted a reception for artist, Eric Sabee, at the Welcome Center Art Gallery.  We had a great turnout of members and friends of the artist. We had lots of food, drink and fun.

And the best part--turned out it was the birthday of two of our Board Members:  Gloria Fouts and Roberta Labaw!  Surprising them (especially with the flowers by board member, Francois Bowlby!) was just as much fun as the reception.

Gloria and Roberta would like to thank the group for the lovely surprise birthday party which was included in the celebration of Eric's art work.  We loved the surprise.  We enjoyed the singing, cake, flowers, and especially your thoughtfulness.
