Summer Conference Recap

This summer's Colorado ASTA conference was a fun way for members to connect with one another and attend some great sessions! We gathered at the King Center on the Auraria Campus, hosted by Dr. Brandon Matthews and Metro State University.

The presentations were quite varied, with a myriad of topics from private teaching, instrument repair, chamber music repertoire, fiddling and alternative styles, renewal and reflection, and much more! For many, the reading session was a highlight at the event. The Monday night banquet at The Corner Office was a great way for members to kick back and relax, and meet new people. Conference attendees also had the opportunity to bid on silent auction items, to benefit the Colorado ASTA Student Scholarship fund. Thanks to an overwhelming amount of donors, the items up for bid were fantastic and plentiful: hotel stays, gift cards, concert tickets and vouchers, jewelry, music publications, signed CDs from various artists, instrument supplies, and much much more. This event raised over $1200 for our own students! Woohoo!

The Colorado ASTA Board will be examining this summer's conference, to make improvements for next summer's event. If you have some requests for events or sessions you would like to see presented, or other conference matters, please email me at AlisonMayes523@gmail.com. I would love to put these on the list of plans for next year.

To those that were able to join us this year--attendees, exhibitors, and presenters alike--thank you for coming and being a part of the experience. All state chapter members, we hope to see more of you there in the future! Dates and location will be announced very soon. Enjoy the rest of your summer!
