A Winter Update from Tarbut Movement

It's a warm and busy winter for Tarbut Movement,

and we are here to tell you all about it!

We are very proud to present you with our recent activities,

and wish you a happy new year.

Youth Art Camp

600 young artists participated in Tarbut's art-camp during Hannukah. In the 5 day camp they created art: theater shows, dance performances, music, poems, short stories and visual art, instructed by Tarbut's artists and educators. The art products were shown at the end of the camp in a fantastic art festival.

Local Activities

10 cities throughout the country, more than 1000 participants- this Hannukha was full of art that, like the miracle of the burning oil, just didn't run out! Hannukha local activities for kids included "Around the World Legends"- special theatre shows for kids based on folk stories.

The Sigd

the Sigd is one of the unique holidays of the Beta Israel (Ethiopian Jewish) community. Tarbut's youth members produced a special ceremony to celebrate the Sigd, and learn more about the special culture and tradition of the Ethiopian Jews.

The Community Theatre

This winter we are proud to present the new theatre show "You can't choose your family". The actors and playwrites are members of the community Theatre of Afula. The directors are members of Tarbut Movement. This is the group's

 second original play. Bravo!

History Through Art

In most schools students study World War II and the Holocaust mostly with books and texts. Tarbut preffers different methods; Two artists from Tarbut and the students of Leibowitz high-school in the city of Netanya created an exhibition of the student's art pieces, based on the material they studied in class. The exhibition replaced the traditional exam, showing that there are a lot of different ways to study our history.

The Arab Branch of

Tarbut Movement

In the past few months we opened new branches of our youth organization -"Beit Hayotzrim"- in 10 different cities: Nahf, Arraba, Na'ura, Sakhnin, Zemer, Reineh, Kaukab, Taibe (Galilee), and Ma'alot-Tarshiha. This is an important step towards promoting tolerance and pluralism in Israel, based on an artistic dialogue between the Arab and  Jewish youth in the country.

Good luck to our new counselors, artists, kids and youth involved!

Tarbut Movement thanks all of our partners and friends-

Non of this could have happened without you!

We wish you a warm winter, and a happy new year.
