Dear Press Club Members: Thank you for your support. Thank you for your interest. We're proud to share with you the beta version of the All Grown Up project, more than a year in the making. This is Evita Caldwell's story about her classmates from Jefferson School, the focus of a multi-million dollar effort in 1999-2000 to improve the outcomes of "at risk" students. Now those students are all grown up and Evita set out to learn whether her classmates lived up to the hopes and dreams those civic leaders, their parents and their teachers had for them.
A part of Evita's story will appear in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on Sunday, June 7, with links to the rest of the story on this website. On June 11, the St. Louis American will print a special tabloid section with the entire story thanks to the generosity of publisher Dr. Donald Suggs and the Maxine Clark and Bob Fox Charitable Foundation. All will appear with photos shot this year and yesteryear by the Post-Dispatch's Pulitzer Prize winning photographer, J.B. Forbes. The special section will be printed in time to distribute at our Media Person of the Year Dinner.
Evita and her fifth grade teacher Mary Spencer will be talking about the project on Wednesday, June 3, first with KTRS Radio's McGraw Milhaven in the 9 o'clock hour, and then KMOX Radio's Charlie Brennan in the 10 o'clock hour. We will keep you apprised of more appearances as they are booked.
For now we hope you will take the time to surf through the site, read, reflect and send us your feedback. The Press Club made this possible with its sponsorship and support. We are very grateful.
