What makes us Sustainable?

Proudly Designed & Manufactured in Australia

A Carbon Neutral Company

In 2010, Sustainable Living Fabrics was the first company to receive the carbon neutral certification through NCOS for both operations and products.

Carbon and energy management specialists, Pangolin Associates, manage our NCOS requirements ongoing. This includes an annual carbon footprint, comprehensive carbon reduction recommendations, and annual offsetting services with certified carbon credits for emissions that we cannot eliminate. In 2016, Pangolin Associates also conducted our Life Cycle Analysis (LCA), an essential strategy for maintaining carbon neutrality.

The Australian Carbon Trust's NCOS Carbon Neutral Program certification covers all fabrics and services supplied by Sustainable Living Fabrics and requires the offset of:

1. The production of every fabric right down the supply chain from raw materials to delivery to customer including but not limited to:

  • Extraction of raw materials (including the methane & nitrous oxide from the sheep)
  • Conversion of raw materials to fibre & yarn
  • Conversion of yarn to finished fabric
  • All related transport along the supply chain

2. Warehousing, administrative & support activities

3.  All company cars, the sales team's cars & employees' cars when used on company business

4.  All company air and taxi travel

Greenfleet Contributions

Each year Sustainable Living Fabrics contributes to the replanting and restoration of Australian Forests. Through the not-for-profit Greenfleet charity, we believe that this is the best way for us to connect with rehabilitation of our environment.

Sustainable Living Fabrics contributes to the Greenfleet biodiverse program. This year on our behalf, Greenfleet will plant 249 native trees to establish a biodiverse forest and offset 67 tonnes of CO2 -e.

As well as offsetting greenhouse gas emissions, this action will help to improve water quality, reduce soil degradation and provide essential habitat for native wildlife.

By contributing to this remarkable charity, Sustainable Living Fabrics hopes to show our clients that we are doing all we can to further our vision of living in a healthier, more sustainable world. And by specifying our products in your upcoming projects, you can rest assure that our fabrics are developed for designers with an environmental conscious.

A big shoutout to TKO Office Fitouts for sharing their latest project for Westcourt Accountants.

They have creatively used Sustainable Chelsea Olive and Oniscus to match the carpet and the graphic on the wall in their design. The overall effect is very eyecatching and perfectly zoned!

We love to see where our fabrics end up. If you have some images, send them through and we will put them up on our instagram and newsletter!
