June Newsletter

Hello church communication leaders! Here are a few items to help you in your role as a communicator for your church. Email us with any questions!

Camp Meeting 2017

Camp Meeting 2017 has come to an end, and what a blessing it was. Not only did we recieve amazing messages from all our seminar, evening and weekend speakers but we also had the opportunity to fellowship with some of you in the beautiful setting of Lake Junaluska. A few of our favorite moments were sitting on a bench along the rose walk, overlooking the lake, and talking with our Heavenly Father. Hope you all enjoyed it, and if by chance you missed it we hope to see you there next year. You can access audio and video recordings on our website, carolinasda.org.

Mass Text Messaging and Email for Churches

Recently, as part of the Generous Living Team, we attended a stewardship conference in Nashville, TN. FlockNotes was one of the featured services at this conference. It is a mass text and email client that is free up to 40 recipients. However, Flocknotes is reasonably priced over 40 members as well, starting at $25/month and up. There are a la cart packages as well.

FlockNotes also has an online course called 6 Reasons Chuch Communication Strategies Fail (and how to fix them). It is a FREE online course that you, as a local church communication leader, might be interested in taking. Click Here for More Information.

5 Tips for Conducting a Church Communications Audit

Royalty Free

Stock Imaging

We frequently receive questions dealing with the use of images/graphics retrieved from the internet.

Copyright infringment is a serious offense, even when only using the images for a PowerPoint slide for church (especially if the service is being streamed or available for viewing later). It doesn't matter if you are a large or small church, the copyright holder can still come after you.

We understand that it isn't always in the budget for a stock image subscription. There are some FREE options out there, (and you know how we like FREE.)

One of the free sites that we like to use is All-Free-Downloads.com. On this site there are photos, vectors, templates, fonts, stock footage....and way more.

Welcome to the Family

Do you have new members in your congregation? Welcome to the Family is a semi-annual retreat held at Nosoca Pines Ranch for new Carolina Conference members. If there are those in your church who have joined by baptism or profession of faith between April 1, 2015—March 31, 2017, they are invited to attend. This year, the retreat will take place the weekend of August 18-20. Your new members will not want to miss the messages from our guest speaker, the outdoor activies and the fellowship. There will also be programing for both children and youth. Registration is required by July 31, 2017.

Article Submissions

As always, we want to hear your stories! We have made it easy for you to submit articles for publication. Every article that is submitted is used, either in the Carolina Action, in the Southern Tidings, on the conference website or on the conference Facebook page.

Where the item is published is at the discretion of the Conference Communication Department.
