Ballet Master Class with Miss. Anastasia Kubanda

Anastasia Kubanda was born in Front Royal, Virginia, and trained at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet and San Francisco Ballet School. She was a trainee with SFBS in 2014 and was named an apprentice with the San Francisco Ballet in 2015.  With the San Francisco Ballet she has danced in Tomasson’s Giselle (Wilis), Nutcracker (Snow and  Flowers), Swan Lake (Swan and Czardas), and Prism, and Balanchine’s Coppelia (Friend, War and Discord, and Bride, and Cranko’s Onegin.  As a student she danced in Tomasson/Possokov’s Don Quixote (Dryads), and Makarova’s (after Petipa) “The Kingdom of the Shades” from Lay Bayadere, Act II.  For the SFBS she danced a principal role in the U.S. premiere of Macmillan’s Soirees musicales, and Tomasson’s Bartok Divertimento.  She is a long term recipient of the Marion Park Lewis Foundation.

RECAP - The Washington Ballet's Aladdin

Last month FRDS had it's first ever dance field trip!

On March 18th, a group of nearly 25 students, parents, friends and family made a trip up to the Thearch Theatre in Washignton, DC. The afternoon began with some of us gathering at the studio to then carpol up to the city, while others meet us at the Theatre. Dinner for those of us carpooling turned out to be wonderful - who knew such a large party could be in and out of Outback Steakhouse so quickly! Then, most importantly the house lights dimmed, the pre-show announments were made and the show began!! The stunning dancers of the Washington Ballet performing Aladdin was captivating and exciting, all the while still emotional and beautifully breathtaking! With some sleepy heads on the ride home, we made it back to Front Royal right on time. We were all thankful for the possibilty to experianced the beatiful art of Ballet.

"You don't have to know about ballet to enjoy it, all you have to do is look at it."~ Edwin Denby

We hope next season you will be able to join in on the fun and great experience!
