Dear TMPF Supporter,
Thanks to you, 1,846 Washoe County students were able to get out into their local parks and do hands-on science with the Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation in 2016 alone. Your support means that teachers and kids are more connected to their parks and excited about science—Thank you!
A teacher from Grace Warner Elementary School told me, “I don’t think the kids have really noticed all the nature found in the park before.” Her students had just visited their local park with educators from the Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation’s Student Stewards program. She continued, “It’s made them pay more attention to what’s going on in their neighborhood. Even just on the playground, they’ll point out bugs they notice.”
Thank you so much for your generosity, which transforms nearby parks into classrooms and inspires the next generation of park supporters. Your support makes stories like this possible.
Another teacher, from Dunn Elementary, told me, “We’re doing opinion writing right now and many of [the students] picked protecting wildlife and nature.” Her students have showed a greater interest in learning about wildlife since visiting their parks.
Would you be willing to make a special year-end donation of $50, $100 or whatever you can afford to continue supporting the future of our community and the future of our parks?
For many of these students, this is their only field trip all year.
Thanks to your generosity, the Student Stewards Program is free-of-charge for low income schools. In 2016 alone, you brought 1,846 school kids into their neighborhood parks. Wow!
