NEW SIGNAGE

Cr Joe Ramia officially unveiled the 8 new interpretive signs along the tram line in Perseverance Reserve.  It was a cold and miserable day but many people turned up for this exciting occasion. The signs give a good insight into the tramway route, the bridges, the walking tracks and life along the line back in the

late 1800 and early 1900s.

UP COMING EVENT - TRAIL WALK

The next Munro Tramway Historical Group (MTHG) event, a walk along a section of the old tramway line, will be held at 9.00am on Sunday, July 24th.

The walk will commence from the Reserve at Perseverance and follow the new section of trail recently opened up and sign posted by Landcare and our group.  The walk will continue along the existing “Great Short Walk” section of the Tramway and on to the well on the upper section. It is a 3.2km walk to the well with an elevation change of 75m.  The walk back will be easier and the total walking distance willb e 6.4kms
Bring along your morning tea and we will organize to have it transported up the trail by vehicle. For anyone unable to walk the distance, we will use this vehicle to provide assistance to the end of the “Great Short Walk” section and to the morning tea site.

This outing will provide an opportunity to examine the new trail sections and the recently installed interpretive signs.  During the morning we will have a discussion about the opening up of other trail sections and the development of

additional signage for these.

All members and members friends and associates are encouraged to attend.

Along the way we'll pass the recently installed interpretive signs each providing historical detail related to the tramway.

We'll also pass the site of McQuillan's Bridge.
