This last weekend was a big day for us as a family. We celebrated the marriage of our middle son, Caleb to his sweetie, Katie. It was a great day sharing this time with family and a few close friends. Marriage is one of those few times in your life where everything changes. You walk down the isle as a single person and just a little while later you walk back as a married person. In the moment it takes to declare the words, “I now pronounce you…” your future is forever changed. You haven’t really changed in that moment but in another way everything is different.
It struck me yesterday, while I was thinking about the short number of days left here in Wisconsin (just over 2 weeks), that we are actually moving in two directions - in one way toward something and at the same time away from something else. We’ve spent the last year preparing and moving toward living in a foreign country - The Going. At the same time we’ve been taking steps away from the life we’ve know as familiar - The Leaving.
These "going and leaving" events can evoke a variety of emotion. Excitement for what is to come & yet sadness because we will miss those we leave behind and whom we love deeply! The other night God reminded me of these verses from 2 Corinthians 2:3-4, "What a wonderful God we have... the One who so wonderfully comforts and strengthens us in our hardships and trials... So that when others are troubled, needing our sympathy and encouragement, we can pass on to them this same help and comfort God has given us."
We have been blessed with an amazing prayer team! We have celebrated, laughed, cried, and encouraged each other this year. This prayer team started because we knew we needed people along side us who were committed to deep and powerful intercession on our behalf. We have seen God show up in some mighty ways! Our prayer team is growing and will continue even while we are in Kenya. If you would like to join our prayer team click on the button below. We would like for this to be a relationship where we can pray for you as well, so shoot us an email any time!
