February 2016 Newsletter

Manager's Message

Welcome to the first Sunny Meadows newsletter for 2016!The first weeks of term have been exciting and very busy as I continue in my new role as your manager. I am constantly trying to improve and build on what we have here and I hope you like some of the changes you're seeing. First, I hope you will join me in welcoming some wonderful new staff who have come to the nursery in the past two months. Yasmin, our lovely new secretary, has joined us from Egypt and we also have two new Montessori teachers - Jemma, from the UK, who will join Miss Nelly in the English Montessori and toddler classes and Najwa, from Syria, who will join Miss Noor in the Arabic Montessori class. We also welcome Jane, our new shadow teacher and Ivy, our new assitant teacher, both from the Philippines. Next week, I will be completing a leadership course at the Maria Montessori Institute in London and we are providing ongoing, expert, training for all staff here so that we can give your chldren the best possible care. I hope you enjoy our first newsletter! As always, please don't hesitate to contact me at anytime with anything you wish to discuss.

Nursery News and Updates

We have introduced new daily feedback forms and are continuing to update and refurbish the nursery - the new babies room and sensory corner is taking shape and the villa has a bright new look! Work on our new garden will also begin imminently - we  thank you for your patience with this. You will probably have seen our bright new yellow school bus - please let us know if you'd like to arrange for the bus to pick up and/or drop off your child!  We are planning a trip to Saadiyat beach as part of our environment week later this term - Park Hyatt's resident marine biologist, Arabella Willing, will be taking us on a nature trail! We are also hoping to introduce afternoon sports and ballet and increase our Islamic classes. If you haven't already registered your interest, please let us know.

Montessori themes this month...

Our themes this month have been Fruit & Vegetables, Bakers & Butchers, Sensorial -Taste and Touch and Transport!

Some of our little chefs during Bakers' week with Miss Noor in our Arabic Montessori class. We made chef's hats and baked cheese cookies!

Our Daisy babies have been playing with ribbons and jelly as part of our sensory programme!

And our Buttercup toddlers have been exploring shapes and colours!

Tips from our Nurse

Several children at Sunny Meadows are in the middle of potty training at the moment. Our staff are very experienced with coping with this! Please don't hesitate to ask us for advice during this tricky time - we hope to make the transition as easy as possible for you!

February's Healthy Lunchbox Recipe

We are always trying to encourage healthy eating at Sunny Meadows and the big mix of nationalities means we see all sorts of exciting foods in our children's lunchboxes. Here's a new one to try -

Apple Bircher Museli

1 x grated apple

1 x handful of oats

1 x pinch of cinnamon

10 - 15 raisons

1 x pot of yoghurt or some almond milk

Mix the above together and seal in an airtight container, leave in the fridge overnight before adding to your childrens' lunchbox ready for breakfast at nursery.

We would love to hear your recipes ideas so please let us know!

Admin

Please can we remind you to use the new registration form to sign your child in/out of the nursery - this is important for their safety. We would also like to mention that you can now process your fee payments via bank transfer.

That's it from us this month! As always, please come and see us anytime.

With our very best wishes from,

The Sunny Meadows Team xx
