Fabulous Stall The Dunedin group had a stall to generate awareness about UBI at the South Dunedin Street Festival on Saturday 31 October. They had bright blue feathers, toy money, gold chocolate coins, free posies and nuts in shells to give away. Well done!

Things you can do! Our first priority is to Spread-the-Word, just making all New Zealanders aware of the Unconditional Basic Income concept. If you are as enthusiastic about UBI as we are, you may be willing to mention the idea to family and friends. Or just connect your Internet presence to the BINZ website and/or Facebook page.
Situations where a Universal Basic Income would benefit New Zealanders (By Gaylene Middleton) As the concept of a Universal Basic Income grows in strength, it would be useful to document specific situations in NZ where the UBI would enhance the lives of people..

BINZ Seeks Affiliation with BIEN! BINZ has applied to affiliate with Basic Income Earth Network (BIEN). They have replied that it would be great to add a network for New Zealand. Final approval would come at their next General Assembly which will take place in Seoul, South Korea, in July 2016. Professor Guy Standing has endorsed our application!

Order Your Business Cards! We are going to print some business style cards with a very brief reference to Basic Income, a logo and Web and Facebook addresses. A chat to someone is perfectly completed by handing over the card, perhaps with a phone number scribbled on the back. Let us know if you would like some.
Pamphlets and Speeches! Our interim President Lowell Manning is working on a hand-out type pamphlet suitable for libraries, schools and similar places. Again, if you are interested in having some of these just let us know! Lowell is available for short talks on UBI to interested groups. He spoke to three groups in Hawke's Bay in September, and all three talks were well received. Lowell lives near Wellington. For venues outside the greater Wellington region a contribution towards travel expenses may be requested.

Tell Us Your Story! We are considering adding a page to the Website where New Zealanders can post their experiences living in The Precariat (see Guy Standing's book) in New Zealand. We have a contribution from a member from the Far North which will be the first article there. If you have a story to tell, please send it in for inclusion. It could make the need for UBI much more obvious to those who are not in The Precariat.

You are invited! BBQ/pot luck dinner at Karl's house. Whip up a salad or a dessert, come on over & meet like minded people! Please RSVP no later than 1st December so we can buy some good meaty things, brew some beer and polish some wine glasses!
