In general, what is your athletic background?  I started dancing when I was around 3 years old and dabbled in gymnastics. I did all sorts of different types of dance and was apart of competitive dance teams. Unfortunately, I had to quit dancing before college due to foot injuries. I tried track but hated it!.

 

How did you learn about CrossFit Kalamazoo? I was so tired of the way I looked and decided to google “workouts that show results quick.” CrossFit was the first option, so I went to the closest gym near me. I was absolutely terrified and had NO idea what to expect but I figured... why not!

 

How has CrossFit Kalamazoo changed your life, lifestyle, and level of fitness? I am the strongest, healthiest and most confident I have been in years! I used to come home from work, eat what I want, watch TV, and go to bed. Now, I feel guilty if I don’t work out and I am very passionate about eating healthy. This new lifestyle has helped me lose 35 lbs in 6 months!


List short/long term goals you would like to accomplish through CrossFit Kalamazoo: Short term - be able to do an RX pull up, I think I am getting close!

Long term- be able to do RX during every work out!

 

What do you like most about CrossFit Kalamazoo? I love the variety of work outs, the community and the coaches! Everyone truly wants the best for each other, and I love that!

 

What is your favorite CrossFit movement? I love anything involving hand stands! I can’t do a RX hand stand push up yet, but I love practicing them!

 

 

What is your least favorite CrossFit movement? Wall balls (duh) and anything over head with the bar. I always feel so awkward and it hurts my shoulders.

 

What are you currently doing to try to improve your diet? I did Keto for a month and that was a little too intense for me but I learned A LOT. Now I try to eat all organic, low dairy, very low carb and high protein. I try and never eat fast or processed foods or drink soda. This diet has REALLY worked for me so I am sticking with it! It does not even feel like a “diet” anymore.

 

Favorite movie: I am such a movie person so this is an impossible question! I can always watch Judd Apatow movies, Step Brothers, Wedding Crashers, and Titanic. I also love horror movies.

Favorite and/or current book:

I hate reading books but I love the picture book Cats on Catnip! Haha. Seriously.. check it out if you’re a cat person.

Favorite music genre/artist: I love music and going to festivals and shows. I would have a lot more money in the bank if it weren’t for music! My favorite genres are dubstep, hip hop, blue grass, funk, jam bands, and reggae. My guilty pleasure is early 2000’s pop. My favorite artist to see live is Bassnectar.

 

Achievements you’d like to highlight within your life:  Graduating college in four years with a degree in graphic design, rebranding the company I work for, creating and managing their first Ecommerce store, losing 35 lbs recently, and starting CrossFit!

List a few things we don’t know about you: My real name is Kristina, my favorite food is Chicago deep dish pizza from LouMalnatis, I have 4 siblings who are my best friends, I studied abroad in Italy for three months, I can do all three splits, and I hope to foster kittens one day soon. I am obsessed with cats!


In 10 words or less, what does CF mean to you?  Kickin’ ass in the gym to better yourself mentally and physically!

On-Ramp Classes - A 6 Week Fitness Journey!

Our On-Ramp class provides coaching in a smaller group setting and is mandatory for those who are new to CrossFit. This class is programmed to teach you the movements, techniques and lingo as we want to ensure you have a good foundation built before you jump into our regular WOD!  

 

The On-Ramp classes are scheduled Monday through Thursday at 5pm, 6pm, 7pm or 8pm.

 

The On-Ramp Class is bundled with a monthly membership as we find this is ideal for those looking to start a new fitness journey. During this 6 week period, two weeks will be dedicated to 5-1 hour On-Ramp classes that need to be completed before you join the regular WOD.  Upon On-Ramp completion, you advance to our regular WODs and will  have 4 weeks of unlimited visit membership.  This block of time allows your body  to adjust to a new fitness program and gives you time to get familiar with the moves. By the end of the 6 week period, will see how things start to fall together and you will start to see results of your hard work!   You will start too look forward to doing burpees and moving heavy stuff! :-) All while surrounded by an encouraging CFK Community cheering you on!

Try A Class - More Options to Give

CrossFit Kalamazoo A Try! 

 

Ready to check CrossFit Kalamazoo out? We now offer a couple options for you to "Try A Class"! 

 

1)  Our Saturday Partner WOD at 10:00am is our primary class dedicated for newbies to try.  

 

2 ) IF the Saturday time slot will not work for your schedule, we can also schedule a time for you to join one of our week day classes (at 5pm, 6pm or 7pm)

 

With both options, a Coach will be assigned to you and you will be encouraged to go at your pace.

 

This is a great opportunity to try out a workout at our facility, meet the Coaches, visit with our CFK community and be a part of the Community that makes CrossFit Kalamazoo so great!  

 

Each class is 1 hour long. The cost to join this class is $10 (limited to newbies to CrossFit and does not apply to experienced CrossFitters dropping in).  If you sign up for our On-Ramp class, the $10 intro fee will be applied to the cost of the On-Ramp class. 

 

Reservations are required so please call 269-251-1677 or send an email to crossfitkalamzoo@gmail.com to reserve a spot.  Since class starts on the hour, please arrive 15 minutes early to check in, complete a waiver and stretch.
