APRIL NEWSLETTER

Check out what we've got going on this month

Dear Mayfair friends and family,

It is hard to believe that we have entered the last marking period of the 2017-18 school year. As many of you know, state testing begins in third grade, but it continues each year and eventually leads to college-ready tests like the ACT and SAT. These testing skills will later be critical to professional tests given in various fields within our workforce. At this young age, our responsibility as the adults is to provide children the foundation for a positive attitude and the appropriate support for test skill building.

Whether we agree with the tests or not, we should be very careful about the impression we create for children. Positive attitudes foster positive results. The opposite may also be true if we put too much pressure and stress on students or talk negatively about testing.

Our students have already worked very hard this year preparing for the next grade level with their Teachers. Test dates for spring 2018 can be found on the April calendar and will be posted on the school’s website.

What is my role as a parent:

• Encouragement

• Ensure proper rest and nutrition

• Encouragement

Your partnership is critical. Please make attendance on testing dates a priority. Thank you for all you do. If you have any questions, please call or email.

Respectfully,

All Mayfair Lab Teachers and Staff
