There's a New Superhero in Rochester! |
Last week during Superhero Camp, we helped a young person discover her super-power and develop her super-identity. Naturally, we've agreed to protect her private identity so that she may walk among us undetected. Here is her story: When she accidentally ate radioactive strawberry ice cream, Princess Icecream Cone came into being. Her super-power? Shooting strawberry ice cream from her fingers and hands, distracting villians until police arrive. If a villian is lactose-intolerant, her cat (who ate radioactive kitty food) distracts the villian by |
compelling him or her to pet it. If the villian is allergic to cats and lactose-intolerant, her brother (shocked in a terrible electrical accident) distracts him or her by dancing around and telling jokes. That's teamwork! Princess Icecream Cone designed her own cape (with trapunto stitching!), skirt, head-gear and gloves. Our team helped her create each piece of her superhero costume. We heard her say as she left our shop: "I love SewGreen@Rochester. I hope it's always here." So do we, Princess Icecream Cone. So do we! |

Three tons! Of Novelty Yarn?! Help!! |
As of April 6, SewGreen@Rochester has taken in 3 tons of your donations of sewing, knitting, crocheting and other needle-working materials. Thank you! Sales of these items help us pay the rent, keep the lights on, and provide scholarships to students of all ages. Of course, there's a flip side to this happy news. Lately, we've been inundated by generous amounts of novelty yarn. In the interest of making room to display other items, and - you know - to breathe, we've begun packaging bags of fun fur, ladder and ribbon yarn, and so very much more. |
Beginning Saturday, April 9, join us for Our Novelty Yarn Smackdown Challenge. Come in, pick up a bag (or 2! or 3!) that tickles your fancy, at no charge, take it home and create something. Anything! For free! In return, if you're willing, we'd like to display your creation - whenever you've completed it - in our shop windows for a few weeks. Come help us out! Spread the creative joy! Please? |
