Cub Scout Pack 375

February 2019 Newsletter

It has been another busy month for Pack 375!  We had an unforgettable time camping at Seven Mountains Scout Camp during Winter Storm Harper, a week later we had 3 Webelos patrols participate in the 48th Annual Klondike Derby and this past weekend we had the opportunity to participate in Scout Sunday.

This next month is going to be another fun filled one!  The highlight of the month will be our Pinewood Derby race this Saturday followed by a Pack Meeting at the end of the month.

Help for a Fellow Scouter

Pack 375 Families & Friends. We are asking for your support for a fellow Scouter, Josh Woods, our District Executive. Those of you at our December Pack Meeting may remember Josh who spoke with us about recruiting new Scouts. Also, Scouts who were at Cubscout Day Camp and/or Family Camp last summer will remember Josh and his wife Amanda from camp. Josh was one of the administrators at camp and his wife Amanda lead the games.

Last Monday, Amanda was diagnosed with severe pre-eclampsia and she was airlifted to Danville with the hopes of stabilizing enough to continue her pregnancy. On Wednesday, the docs needed to do an emergency C-section and baby Jameson was born at 28 weeks. He's a tiny little Cub weighing just over 2 pounds and 14.25" long and has been in the Danville NICU since birth.

Amanda is the Marching Band Director at the Philipsburg-Oseceola School District and her colleagues have created this GoFundMe account to help Josh and Amanda with expenses as they begin their journey with Jameson.

Summer Camp

It is already time to start thinking about Summer Camp!

Attending Cub Scout Day Camp, Family Camp or Webelos Camp is an excellent way for Scouts to get a jump start on  their next rank, have fun,  meet new friends and spend a week unplugged.

Cub Day Camp (June 17-21 2019) includes camp favorites such as BB-Guns, Archery, and Aquatics each day, along with other activities throughout the week. Scouts will be provided lunch in the dining hall.

Cub Family Camp (June 17-21 2019) starts in the evenings after Day Camp dismisses. Scouts will get to participate in open program areas and other fun evening activities, spend the night at camp, and enjoy dinner and breakfast in the dining hall. A Parent/Guardian must be present for Family Camp, and the first parent is included in a youth registration.

Webelos Resident Camp (July 21-25 2019) at Seven Mountains offers one week of overnight camping for Webelos Scouts to complete advancements and have new experiences. This 5 day 4 night program takes your Scout on an Adventure around Seven Mountains that he will never forget.  In addition to shooting sports, aquatics, scoutcraft, Scouts are encouraged to hike the trails in and around 7MC, attend twilight activities, and enjoy campfires.

New Fundraising Policy

Effective immediately, the Pack will split fundraising profits with Scouts and will place the Scout's portion in a "Family Account."  Money in the Family Accounts must be used for things that benefit the entire pack such as: paying dues, buying uniforms, paying for trips & summer camp and other items as approved by Pack Committee.  Dues do not have to be paid from the Family Account, however dues must be paid in full before the Family Account can be used for any other purpose.  Leftover money in the Family Account will be absorbed into the Pack account after a family leaves Pack.

We will be having a Marianna's Fundraiser in April to get a jump start on fundraising for next year.  Please watch for details to be announced.
