Our annual business meeting is an opportunity to share updates about what the Alliance has been up to over the year, our plans for the coming year, and for you to provide input on how you'd like to see the Alliance continue to grow to meet your needs. 2017 Southwestern Tribal Climate Change Summit On September 19-21, the Climate Science Alliance co-hosted the 2017 Southwestern Tribal Climate Change Summit with the La Jolla Band of Luiseno Indians, the Institute for Tribal Environmental Professionals, and the University of San Diego's Climate Education Partners. We were pleased to have been invited to collaborate on such an important and powerful event. We had 190 attendees representing 48 tribes join us from across the southwest for three days of sharing knowledge and experiences on climate change impacts and solutions in the southwest. | | |

CSA Hosts Interactive Climate Training for Educators The training gave 44 educators new tools and approaches for enganging the public on climate science, in partnership with SDG&E at the Energy Innovation Center in San Diego on September 27th. Multiple Alliance partners helped make this training a success. | | |

Climate Kids Attends Animals on the Bay Day! Over 2500 local community members attended the Living Coast Discovery Center's Animals on the Bay Day, a free event for the whole family to enjoy! The Alliance hosted a Climate Kids booth where visitors learned about the impacts of climate change and human development on local species. Two CK Ambassadors led our community art project and activities. | | |

| | CKM wins 1st place at ExpoAmbiente Our Climate Kids-Mexico program and its program manager Profesora Martha Aidé Escalante Garcia were featured at the 22nd Expo Ambiente, an annual event promoting environmental education and natural habitat care. CKM was awarded 1st place for it's numerous workshops led by student ambassadors, reaching the 600 people in attendance. | | |

| | CKM leads "Dia de los Mares" Community Event On September 28th students from five schools in the Playas area participated in a beach clean up and were led by Climate Kids Ambassadors through 18 workshops about climate change and environmental stewardship. The event concluded with a special Pasarela presentation featuring recycled clothing. The event reached more than 1,000 local youth, bringing attention to the issues associated with pollution of water basins, climate change, and the importance of conservation. | | |

"Along the Transect Line" at Cabrillo National Monument CSA Affiliated Artist Audrey Carver collaborated with scientists at Cabrillo National Monument to showcase the various species found there. Audrey shares the story behind her pieces in the video below. "Along the Transect Line" will be up through December. |

The inaugural 2018 San Diego Climate Summit will bring together a cross-section of more than 150 stakeholders representing the sciences, environmental agencies, utilities, municipalities, water and wastewater districts, tribal leaders, nonprofits, educators and other environmental advocates to provide regional environmental leaders an in-depth look at climate science and related issues, while providing a forum to shape San Diego’s regional resiliency, built environment and, rich biodiversity.
