Kent Woodruff, a US Forest Service project coordinator working on the Methow Beaver Project (Winthrop WA), will be in town to show a 25-minute

film titled “One Stick at a Time” and lead a discussion on how to soften the impacts of, and adapt to, climate change

– the goal of the 10 Decades Project.

The film shows a positive example of what is being

done in Washington to use native species (beavers)

to soften the impacts of climate change.

The 10 Decades Project was conceived in 2014 as an attempt to engage resource managers and community leaders in actions directly related to reducing the climate change impacts expected for their areas.

The main effort is to communicate that excellent work has been done to identify some of the specific climate change impacts that are here now and are arriving with increasing frequency, and demonstrate a few ways people in the Methow Valley are responding. The project is focused on showing that we have our work cut out for us and we need to start now to retain the things we value … hopefully for 10 Decades or more.

Each of us is responsible for doing something to shape the future we want. What can you do?
