Looking for fun things to do with kids in the St. Petersburg area this week? Here are some of the exciting events featured in our weekly schedule and on our calendar.

Monday, January 30

 

Start your week with a fun, interactive story time at Mirror Lake Library! S.P.A.R.K. Pre-Readers (ages 3-5) begins at 10:15am while S.P.A.R.K. Toddlers (ages 1-3) begins at 11am. Later, kids ages 12 and under can discover the culture of Australia at Around the World for Kids at Largo Public Library starting at 6pm. This family program will feature songs, stories, food and more!

Tuesday, January 31

 

Join The Art of Play for some winter inspired engaging activities and projects for your 18-month to four-year-olds at their January Drop-In Class. This is a great opportunity to try out a class if you haven't before. Cost is $15 per child with sibling discounts available. After school, children in grades K through 5 can Meet the Masters at makeme's art history program. This week's featured artist is Henri Rousseau. Cost is $25 per class or $125 for a six-week session.

Wednesday, February 1

 

Hello, February! Drop off your preschoolers at Boyd Hill from 9:30am until 11am. The Puddle Jumpers program allows kids ages three to four to explore and learn outdoors with a park ranger. After work, parents and caregivers with infants under eight months are invited to attend a Babies Workshop with Music & Me at Growing Up beginning at 6pm. Cost is free for current Music & Me families and $15 for new families.

Thursday, February 2

 

Happy Groundhog Day! Wiggle, Giggle & Sing your morning away at Seminole Community Library with children under five from 10am until 11am. At 4pm, bring your young inventors to TinkerLab, a weekly STEAM workshop for children ages six to twelve. This week's lab is Show Me a Shadow, featuring a lesson in shadow science perfect for Groundhog Day.

Friday, February 3 

 

Enjoy a special morning celebration with your preschooler at Sweethearts & Treats at Highland Recreation Complex starting at 10am. Activities at this preschool party will include crafts, games and snacks. Cost is $5 before January 30 and $8 after. For some Friday night playtime, check out Open Gym at LaFleur's Gymnastics from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.

Sunday, February 5

 

Ride the miniature trains at Largo Central Park! The Largo Central Railroad will be running this Saturday and Sunday from 10am until 4pm. There is no charge to ride but donations are always welcome to help keep the trains running.
