New Teaching Locations I'm excited to be offering private lessons in Hagerstown again and I will be teaching in historic downtown Frederick through Steve Hissey's Guitar Studio. The shop is conveniently located next door to the Frederick Coffee Company. Imagine grabbing a pumpkin spice latte on a crisp morming and walking next door to your lesson. (That's what I'll be doing!) I welcome all genuinely-interested and enthusiastic students over the age of nine and I especially enjoy working with adults, fellow teachers, college students and retired learners. Lessons are by appointment, so email or call today for information about availability, prices and scheduling. candicemowbray@gmail.com (301) 665-9233

New CD Update Thank you to everyone who supported my summer Kickstart campaign. I am diligently working on my new CD which will feature works by Laurent Boutros, Erik Satie, Ida Presti, Alexandre Lagoya, Edith Piaf and others. Besides learning and performing the pieces, recording a solo CD requires quite a bit of additional work. One must research and obtain mechanical licenses to record the compositions by communicating with composers, publishers and agencies. With the help of a graphic artist, the CD packaging must be designed and there are a wealth of decisions that have to made about reverb, mastering, digital encoding and other technical aspects before the CD is ready to be pressed. My plan is for the CD to be ready in November and the working title is "Reverie," a french term meaning "daydream."

Concerts During the 2016-17 concert season, I will be giving a wide variety of solo and chamber music concerts. I am very excited to be a featured soloist with two chamber ensembles/orchestras performing a substantial tango work early next year. Look for those details in my next newsletter. If you would like to receive email alerts when concerts come to your area, you can subscribe to me on Bandsintown. Note: If you are creating a Bandsintown profile for the first time, I would advise that you read the steps carefully so you don't end up with subscriptions to everyone you've liked on Facebook. Perhaps this isn't in issue for you, but I synched with my FB account and had a plentitude of alerts! You can also check my website for my complete schedule.

Featuring a Friend! If you are a football fan, make sure to keep an eye out this fall for my friend, rock guitarist Tobias Hurwitz. He plays lead guitar in the Raven's Band and uses a special Raven's Paul Reed Smith guitar for the performances.
